Fiyah up the sleds! Last year they just sat. Just don't get yourself in a digout situation in this powdah. And be sure to bring a towel. (South Park reference for you older folks - wait I minute, I are one!).

Finally winter has arrived. We got about 16 inches yesterday, getting another 4 inches of fluff right now. Tomorrow into Monday looks like 18 inches, but with howling winds. Only sad part i that I'm not going to risk driving up 1A to Bangor on Sunday Afternoon for the Bangor Symphony concert. Out the 50 bucks for tickets. Maybe they'll postpone it, but really, thats unlikely.

It was so cold the snow blower got stuck in choke until the machine warmed up.

OK, folks. All this anticipation is fun, but let me add some things that are important:

Think of all the elderly folks within a mile of you right now. They may be unable to cope with this efficiently. Do they have food, fuel, medicine and the ability to open up their paths to the road. Do we have the means to contact them by phone? If we lose power do they have the means to stay warm? Are their roofs safe? Sooner or later we will get rain. Many roofs will need to be shoveled.

Park your own vehicle away from a roof that will shed tons of snow. These are things that are not routine. The most important things to consider are the elderly and disabled who are unable to deal with this. Don't forget your camp roofs. This is an opportunity for some young folks to earn money.

There are people either new to Maine or young enough that they have never seen anything like this.

After this storm there is another one coming Thursday! God Speed.

As NMLM said above, look out for one another and the ederly. As long as city plows can keep up with keeping the streets clean; the emergency vehicles can get to anyones home if needed.

That means STAY OFF THE ROADS!

I read someone went to go get coffee during a blizzard. Really?! Hopefully you all have what you need at home for a couple days at least . Hopefully all your power stays on too.

These are coastal storms that are happening. (the types to bring blizzards)

From NWS Gray

Quote:
National Weather Service Gray ME
335 AM EST Sun Feb 12 2017

TONIGHT THROUGH 6 PM MONDAY/...
*** Major coastal storm will bring blizzard to near-blizzard
conditions Sunday night into Monday***

Low pressure will move northeast out of the Ohio Valley today
and will rapidly intensify as it moves off the Jersey coast
tonight. Low pressure will deepen over the Gulf of Maine on
Monday before heading east into the maritimes.

WEDNESDAY INTO THURSDAY
Confidence is increasing that more accumulating/plowable snow
will occur Wednesday night into Thursday

Yet another vigorous upper level low pressure system will dig
southeastward from southern Canada to upstate New York on
Wednesday. This will trigger cyclogenesis off the southern New
England coastline during the day as it deepens and moves
northeast Wednesday night.

Thanks so much for thinking of me, NMLM.
