Winter is supposed to start returning now. Actually in the last 60 years 75% of the serious storms happened in the last week of January, in February, and in the first two weeks of March. Two years ago, it was a quiet winter until about today when all hell broke lose and we froze over in an avalanche of snow.

So the real winter is about to begin...I hope.

Well... as of yesterday we were looking at 6-8 inches of snow on the coast tomorrow, and another 3-8 next week.

And typical of the second NON_WINTER in a row, tomoorow has be downgrded to a dusting, and next week downgraded to rain and temps in the high 40's.

What happened to winter in Maine---downeast?

Last Friday there was a convoy that went for miles of vehicles towing snowmobile trailers.

I Have No Idea, but would love to know the answer to that one.. Forecast for tomorrow at present is 1-3 inches..
The lack of snow this year, and these mild temps, makes me wonder if it is setting up for one Whooper of a Snow storm at some point to make up for it..

We are looking at a bit more snow this week, then another storm early next week. We don't need the snow.....the snowpack here is pretty robust. Tons of snowmobilers lately, it also has been good skiing (not too cold).

We could use some more snow here in SW Maine to avoid the drought conditions we had last summer.

I bet the sales of studs for snowmobile tracks is up this year. Those snowmobiles with big engines and short tracks can get stuck right on the trail if there is an inch of fresh powder on ice.
