I gotcha' beat ... I should take the course...

I have 5 dogs- as a total that is at least 3 trips outside- and that is if they all go in one large group.
I have a cargo van- which means- I am going No where in the winter... ( unless I can walk to it).
All winter long, one of us is awake as running the woodstoves, or dogs etc.

My " norm" for a Maine winter was set by last years example, so I would be far less likely to freak out over a storm. Where it seemed like to me the attach photos were common place with back to back storms.
Where it affects the dogs so much that dogs close to 3 feet tall at the shoulder had to jump like this to get about- so more capable of judging impact of a storm from a distance ... ( how ya' like that managerial analysis ...)
Who is a retired Distribution Postal Supervisors who believes every thing should make it through any storm. And whos location is one to monitor a major road of Maine...

While the days seem warmer than usual, everyone where I live agrees that the nights, once the sun leaves, are colder than normal. Tonight the prediction for my area is a low of 37F, but already its 24F, and I expect with these clear skies to go down to 19F.

Normally we start burning wood in mid Sept, by once ever 5 days, and then once every 4 days, then once every 3, then every other and then by late November every night. In early October we started at every other, and now in early November we are at every night.

I don't care what the forecast is, this is not good. And it portends a lot more wood use.

The best thing about that weather is that you can clean up after the dog with a nine iron.

You mean winter not weather.

VERY cool! I recommend everyone to take the class. It's free, fun, and people will take your reports more seriously. Good luck.

I actually started a thread I really haven't kept up with.

Number of blizzard warnings since Jan 1, 2005

10 for Northern Maine. 6 for Southern Maine.

Virginia had a couple.

8 for NYC area & southern CT. More than Michigan.

12 for MA.

Wow at North Dakota. Dont forget, criteria for blizzards vary for each region/state.

Sunny clear sky's temperature gauge reads 55ish. I'm ready for snow and some cold already.

I'm keeping my gravel driveway clear of sticks. My new yellow haired cub cadet snow blower (picture below) has shear pins(unlike my old Toro which would simply lock up and stall), and I have no wish to have to fix her pins which she is supposed to be blowing snow.
