yerocal, you seem to be very much in the loop about developments and such in the Macon area. I am having to do community studies and feasibility studies for my employer and find your information and links very helpful. Saves alot of steps for me. Thanks and keep the good info coming!
And for all those people posting about the horrible crime rate in Macon, I have lived here all my life (40 years). I have never once been the victim of a crime other than one time when my ex husband's car was stolen. But the moron left the keys in it on Vineville Avenue for 6 hours. Can't totally blame the criminals on that one.
I feel safe going downtown at night and regularly participate in the First Fridays that Macon hosts. My husband and I take part in activities at the City Auditorium and Grand Opera House quite frequently, most of which take place late into the night. Never had a problem.
True, our city government stinks and is run by people who are generally inept. But its not like we have home invasions in Idle Hour. And the 12 shootings in 12 days that someone brought up earlier.....well, look at the locations of the shootings. While I feel comfortable walking on Cherry Street at night, I would not walk through the Ft. Hill area at night.
Times are getting bad and people will become more desperate. We'll see increases in all types of crimes everywhere.
