Unfortunately when I'm in macon this is where I stay, and to say Providence lacks character would be like saying Antarctica is sort of chilly.

But alas, it's pretty much the only place(or something exactly like it here) one can live in macon and feel like you're in a nice looking area that is safe.

Warner robins, to their credit, appears to have at least more options amongst this type of housing stock. Of course the choices are still depressing as all get out, but at least you get to pick between a bunch of different soulless subdivisions.

This one is because of emotions and politics. The land there is not big enough to hold large events. Then they outlawed alcohol in the park which ended smaller events such as beer festivals and wine tastings. Downtown isn't exactly full of children, so I'm not sure what they were going for. Next, with all of the Civil Rights leaders native to Macon, why Rosa Parks? She never set foot in Macon. Then it is as if some leaders want it to be a sacred spot and museum to her life. Well, parks are meant to be lively places, not museums. After 10 years, I still don't know what the proponents are shooting for with this one. I mean, I know the "plans", but what is the purpose? Right now, it is a walkway with some grass that is rarely used across the street from City Hall. A total waste. Parks aren't a "build it and they will come" thing. They need to be designed with an end use in mind which is why this one has gone nowhere.
