So lucky, enjoy it!
Woodland Hills hit 119 in 2006.
I believe that is the highest temperature recorded in LA county.

Right, Woodland Hills is actually a section of Los Angeles city and traditionally the hottest region. Even during winter the western San Fernando valley can get very hot but then cools down nicely at night. I'm not sure if the Mojave desert sections of LA county have exceeded 119F but I would not be at all surprised if they have gone over 120F. Last night was very warm and we had to leave the AC on all night. Suppose tonight is going to be just as hot.

It's very likely that parts of the Mojave desert (outside of LA county) has exceeded 120 degrees.
Maybe at Baker or Kelso.

It's cooler here, in the SGV, inland, than it is downtown today. I don't know when I've ever seen that happen before.

Los Angeles is a big city but not all the way to the Mojave desert! Some people even call the Inland Empire as the "desert" when it most certainly is not. Last week CNN did a news segment on grape pickers in the San Joaquin valley near Delano and kept referring to the area as "the desert" because the temperatures were in the 100's. Hot temperatures does not mean an area is a desert!

Exactly, nor does semi-arid. These people who insist on calling OC, the L.A. basin, and the IE "the desert" need to take my personally guided tour of the REAL deserts of Southern California. For a huge fee, naturally.

I think lifeshadower meant to say parts of LA county and not downtown LA.
