I'm grossly disappointed in a system where vaccines are made available to everyone while people 80+ who made their appointments in January, when they were first made available, are still waiting for their appointments to arrive.

It really is a joke. 3rd world countries are doing it better. Politics screw up EVERYTHING.
So you know people that made an appointment in January and they still didn’t get any shot yet? Or do you mean the 2nd part of the shot?

My local CVS in Nassau had appointments available when I checked yesterday. I don’t know if people are aware that the vaccine is now available at CVS.

Also at some small independent physicians offices, and at urgent cares. This does not seem to be widely known.
We are on the waiting list for the vaccine. We are not 65 so we didn't qualify for it until the last phase, which just opened up yesterday. I suspect we should have an appointment in about 3 weeks or less now.
All of my friends working in health care are fully vaccinated, and that's a huge relief. We can wait until those that need it most get it first. We still have a good supply of N95's.

I'm 68, almost 69. When my age group became eligible, in mid January, I immediately got on the NYS website, to make appointments for both my wife and I. And yes, I very quickly found out that, as poster "suzook" said, it's a poorly organized system.
For instance, everyone, including family members, are treated as individuals. I want to make two appointments (wife and I), and of course, for the sake of convenience, logically want them to be as close to the same time as possible. I want to drive the 22 miles to the vaccination site twice, not four times (2 times for each of us). But the way the system is set up, I have to go through the 2-3 minutes of registration for one of us, and then, while others are also booking appointment timeslots, rush back and start all over again, to book the second appointment.
Long story short, in order to be able to get two appointments at pretty much the same time, I wound up booking timeslots on March 28th....which was two days ago. I was pretty much resigned to having to wait this long, however a miracle occurred. I was looking for some cleaning supplies, 5 weeks ago, and stumbled on to one of the local grocery chain's sites, and they announced that their pharmacy was going to be administering shots.
On a whim, I logged on to their site, and got a first shot booked for us, not quite 4 weeks ago. Our second shots are scheduled for this coming Saturday. We got lucky, since if we were saddled with our original dates, we wouldn't be getting our second shots for another 3-4 weeks.
most of the CVS stores near me are booked and so is Stop and shop in East Islip. Walgreens is booked too. I'll go on the cdc website and check there
