Default Invest in a solar energy array

On Dec 13 we will have our solar energy plant operating for 2 years, and it is doing everything exactly as its designed to do. Supplying our needed power on a daily basis, and sending any excess back into our solar energy credit bank to use during the few months of lower solar production. I'm not sure what the current offers are from the solar companies, but I can say that in the last six months I've seen a half dozen systems installed so I suppose whatever is being offered must be making sense...as in dollars and cents. As you will clearly see on my latest statement, my daily total cost of electric here is 37 cents, which is only one penny more than the Daily Basic Service Charge. If I went out and found eight discarded bottles or cans, l could pay my bill with them, and still have a couple cents left over.

^ they told us our roof has too many angles/ridges to qualify for solar.

Approximately $90 - $115 per month for our 1600 sq/ft house. We pay the actual bill, not balanced. It's me, wife and two young children. We have cenrrral air, which is miminally used, gas heat and stove.

I use LED bulbs throughout the entire house and it really makes a big difference in the bill...Electric stove 2 adults & 2 small children no central air in a cape 1600 sq ft outdated appliances though....$100-225 summer $285 - 350 winter

how many of you with low balances are using your appliances on OFF PEAK hours? Anyone currently on the RLM rate with PSEGLI?

Do you heat with electric in winter? That seems awfully high. Most are high in summer when CAC is used. We used to have an electric stove and cost, while different, isn't significant compared to now (bills were $150-ish).

We never use appliances off peak (after 9pm). It's always just dinner time cooking 2hr max and weekends have the addition of the washer/dryer in the middle of the day. Usually the biggest electrical usage appliances are fridge, CAC, and dryer so I'm not sure time of day is a huge factor. Honestly, I don't think I can get my bill up to $350 if I tried.

Also, I'm curious what you all set your fridge temps to. We keep it at 40F which is the warmest still in the recommended range. Fewer on/off cycles.

I've copied this info directly from my solar website. The only thing not shown is my total number of

panels (they call them modules) which is 26. My systems total yield for 2015 up until today is

10563.189 kW which is now tracking ahead of last years total production of 10474.743. PSEG will

probably end up drawing some kWh out of our energy bank as we are running a fairly serious

Christmas light display.

Doesn't matter as we have well in excess of 1000 Kwh in reserve!

Did you rent or buy the panels?
