Keep in mind that you are paying for the free florescent light bulbs given out by LIPA and the Towns and a lot of the green energy through your LIPA bill. All is free !!!! Get you free cellphone as well. Free. Your bills will keep going up with more green energy.
But think of the green jobs they're creating!
LIPA, just like their brethren at Keyspan (or Nat'l Grid or PSEG, whatever they're calling themselves today), likes to inspire lot's of in-fighting. Management is so foobar, I'm amazed every time I turn a switch on and the lights actually illuminate. I don't know how it's divied up right now, but you have your gas division, the fossil group and finance (cfo). Oh, and the line men and truck crews, who are union. They fight like kids and you get to pay for the dysfunction and utter comedic management. And at the end of the year, it's bonus time for a job DONE. Oh, those bonuses are generous... and that's what you're paying for.
Oh, and don't forget about the chairman's car and driver!
Balanced billing doesn't make the bill cheaper, just evens out the spikes, making the bleeding seem less profuse.
I think it's kind of sad that we LIPA rate-payers look at balanced billing as a solution. It is just spreading the pain out.
My husband refuses to do the balance billing saying at the end of the year he doesn't want to owe them a $1000, we just try to keep lights off and hope that before we leave the island the monopoly will end.
That's insane! I had my house at 72 degrees all summer ( central AC) and my highest bill was 160$.
I just received my Bi-Monthly bill yesterday for Aug & Sept. It was $303
1700 Sf ranch
2 wall unit A/C's (Used in Aug)
2 refrigerators
Water cooler
Landscaping lights
Hi-Hats throughout the house
Why go on the budget billing with Lipa? My bills with them only fluctuate $50 +/- on a Bi-Monthly basis.
Why pay them monthly, when you can keep the money in your bank account and pay them Bi-Monthly?
So with a budget plan, you're only paying LIPA every 2 months?
