After adding delivery and power supply charges I see that I am paying around 0.25 per KWH of electricity. How does that compare with the rest of the country ?

Here in sunny Suffolk County, my last LIPA bill was $0.1989 kwH. My total bill is $219 for the month (a real break since May), but out of that over $22 is some form of tax or surcharge, not including the power supply charge.
How do they calculate the power supply charge anyway? When I called LIPA customer service, they could not provide any details.
I like to think of living here as the unified theory of leaching wealth. Between the high gas prices, stratospheric property taxes, high income taxes, and ridiculous utility rates, the powers that be here at the local, county and state levels are busy picking your pocket, relieving you from the worry of what to do with any savings.

Bubba,
It cannot be $0.1989 kwh.... either you missed something or LIPA is charging me extra for something because I am so special.
I had similar bill $216 for 2 months.... but take a look... I consumed total 1052 kwh in 2 months.
Under Delivery....
475 KWH @ $ .0857
577 KWH @ $ .0962
Under Power supply....
1052 KWH @ $ .073089
If you add the three its approx $0.25 per kwh @1052kwh.
Now there are other charges amounting to around $37 under 'Basic service' and 'Other charges' .... so its actually higher than $0.25 per kwh, but again I was simplifying it.
Edit: Ok, I messed up... approx 0.091 average for the entire 1052kwh !! I need a refresher course in Maths.... so its
actually $0.17 or something per kwh... you are in the ballpark Bubba !!
This whole thing started when I read the article that this year oil heat customers are going to spend atleast 20% more $$$ than last year, and I was exploring using a space heater.... guess what 1.5 kw for 12 hours is 18kwh = approx $5 per day (on LI, jeez !!). So its going to be like $150 per month extra. What do you guys think ? Cheaper than going oil heat ? I have been consuming approx 525 gallons of oil per year.
Ok, so with my math discount its still $100 per month. Worth it ?

It just means that you consumed less electricity. For simplicity sake Big Mike would be paying $90 for the same amount of electricity. (Note to Big Mike: We do not want to know how big your house is and what appliances you use, I was just simplifying things )
