Good article on some of the potential the new stadium has in drawing big-time NCAA football each year.

Good read Grumpypotpie. Thanks for sharing.

I came across more transportation issues regarding the proposed stadium site. That's not good at all that it stands at 3 years of new highway construction around the new stadium after it opens in 2020. It will take two years to study the changes for the proposed site as is they said.

It has a good map of where the stadium will go if approved there.

I wish they would just decide already. I'm ready for a good ground breaking.

I was recently talking to someone who flies to Oakland, quite often, on business. He's been at the Airport, taking the last flight of the day, on game day, and there's hordes of Raiders' fans at the Airport, taking late night flights to wherever. And they have shuttle buses that take them from the Airport to the Stadium.

So, if this should happen here, the Raiders' fans fly in for the game and exit on a later flight, how is this going to be a big money maker for Las Vegas, home of the eternal optimists?

Are they really thinking these fans are going to stay over for a day or 2 or 3?

Yes, of course people will make a weekend out of it. But, I won't believe this until the first game Is played.

Las Vegas is an international tourist destination. Oakland is a dirty, violent place that has little of interest.

The vast majority of NFL games are played on Sunday afternoons. Doesn't it make sense that many of those fans flew into Oakland for the weekend and not just for a few hours?

A 1 PM local kickoff doesn't give much margin for error on a Sunday morning flight in.

This. Flight delays could be brought on by mechanical issues, weather issues in the previous city etc. Plus, that makes for a LONG day even though it might be a 2 hr flight.

I would think that some people may at least come in on Saturday. Dealing with the airport and going to the game all in one day, too much IMO.

The inside story of how owner Mark Davis moved the Raiders to Las Vegas

^^ This article shows just how dirty everyone involved was. Adelson isn't even the one exhibiting the worst behavior. It's a long magazine article but it is worth the read.

And LOL @ anyone that thinks any significant number of Raiders fans will be flying here from Oakland on a regular basis. Just like all those Rams fans did for Los Angeles? The Rams fan base was much larger than the one Oakland has. The Raiders' ticket sales are so bad they had to cover 10,000 seats up.
