Yeah, that's the regional religion I was referring to. It's popular in Asia as well.

The Koran and other assorted texts (The Sunnah) have some harsh statements about dogs, particularly black ones. It's sort of a belief about demons. No, I am not joking.

I have a black cat and a black dog. Am I crazy for owning either if I move to Vegas? Will they be hotter than my (mostly)white dog?

Your post is off topic, but to give you a quick answer, they will do fine, but their coats will absorb the heat more. All your pets, regardless of coat color, will need plenty of access to indoors/shade/water.

I don't mind dogs in public places as long as they are well behaved. If I get a chance to pet a pug or a beagle, that helps brighten my day. Elle Tea, they have "Petapalooza" here. You would enjoy that, I think.

I want dogs banned from Wholefoods. & 50 foot leashes are worthless. It hardly rains here, so the urine never washes away. Some people are allergic - some dog owners don't care. Some people are afraid of dogs - some dog owners laugh when dogs bound toward them. Businesses must consider the legal liability they accept when dogs are on their property. Dog owners must remember their liability for the consequences of their dogs.

Good post.

My 2 year old is terrified of dogs and I think it makes no sense that I have to "shield" her every time she sees a dog in a public store to keep her from crying. Next time I will ask to speak to a manager to solve the issue or the store will lose my business. Service dogs are never an issue, for those of you that like to fill up my in-box with "what about service dogs?". If all dogs were highly trained like service dogs, there would never be an issue for anyone.

Works for me.

I HATE seeing dogs in grocery stores and restaurants. It's not the dogs so much as their precious owners, who think the rules don't apply to them.

I have to 2nd the allergy thing. People who are not allergic to dogs or cats can't fathom how uncomfortable they make us. Swollen eyes, hard to breath, itchy throat, miserable. yet these same people think nothing about banning public (or private) smoking.

I am never more miserable than when I am stuck in a goddamn airplane with a goddamn cat. But at least my allergies aren't life threatening.

What really grinds my gears is the sense of entitlement of these "special snowflake" pet owners. I don't bother talking to pet owners in grocery stores. But I have heard them say to others that they can't bear to be away from "their wittle Woogums." Meanwhile, I'm thinking, "Oh, so you suffer from separation anxiety? THEN HAVE YOUR [CENSORED] GROCERIES DELIVERED, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO LEAVE THE [CENSORED] HOUSE AND YOUR MISERABLE LITTLE RAT-DOG."

I have seen pet owners WATCH THEIR DOG DEFECATE IN A GROCERY STORE. And then start baby talking about it. "Did Woogums just make a doodle? Yes, Woogums did!" Makes me want to pull a gun and shoot the owner. The longer I live, the more I'm convinced that the average person is just too effing stupid to have a pet.
