I took my yellow lab to Star Nursery once. She was a very well-trained dog and no one seemed to mind. The little kids loved her. I guess it depends on the venue and the dog.

I'd rather set my hair on fire than take my Aussie out in public, and my male min-pin would have peed everywhere. A little common sense goes a long way.

Whatever you do...do not leave your dog in the car. Some folks buy dog booties for their dogs feet...hot sidewalks can burn foot pads. Always buy 2 pairs....so when you lose one you have seven that match.

I used to rent a room across the street from the strip back in 2006. I was up there nearly everyday with a black lab who was a service dog. She was my roommate's dog. You would not believe how many people would complain about her being with me. I took her in the on the bus, in the casinos, bars etc. The worst were the foreigners. They would complain, but being she was all decked out with a service dog vest, leash, etc..... there was nothing anyone could do. To me, a dog is man's best friend, and much more loyal than people friends. I do not understand how anyone could not like a a very sweet black lab that loved everybody, but I was surprised on how many people did not like her, and even were scared of her. (she was a big girl).

In certain religions, dogs, especially black dogs, are considered dirty / evil.

The people of Arab descent were the worst offenders. They were constantly freaking out around her, and they are the ones who kept complaining trying to get me thrown out of the casinos. The Asians were a close second.

That's because they saw her as a meal and didn't want to get too attached.

One of the popes deemed black cats to be the minions of satan. That us why they are considered bad luck. I love black cats and have always had at least one

BTW I posted a pic of my dogs in the chat thread

Hmmm...I wonder if the OP saw me in Home Depot today with my dog and that inspired him/her to start this thread?

I usually do not take my dog with me, but I knew I would be gone all day and he does get lonely. I would never leave my dog in the car.
