The fact that the owner needs 'approval' to renovate it shows the dire shape of American business. If the owner intended to renovate it, my speculation is that he only went through the motion of closing it earlier so he could get out of convoluted employment agreements and other legacy arrangements. Businesses need the flexibility to hire, fire, renovate, revamp, etc at will, without the government screwing around at every step.

Yeah I think its too late for the Sahara. Maybe if there was a way to revamp/move it around the Fremont area.

That intersection of LV Bld and Sahara Ave needs a total economic makeover. With the exception of the "World's Largest Gift Shop" you've got three dead corners - which is unfortunate as it is a major transportation corridor with hefty traffic. I note this because I do think the Sahara can be successful IF something is done with those surrounding corner properties as well.

I really think if they are going to turn it into a So. Cal. night club hot spot type of place (which the owner is known for) they are going to be in for trouble. Look how quickly the Trop. went to crap after the Nikki beach fiasco.

Sahara and Decatur have similar issues. Pretty much every major cross street east of Rainbow along Sahara is depressing, also with so much construction sahara is a road to avoid

Most depressing Sahara cross street of all? Sahara and Maryland
