I agree with "crazy_bd".
Been to BJ's in Centennial several times and food and service was excellent.
Usually go around 2-3 pm there are no crowds at that time.
Quite extensive beer selection.

The Rio (in general, not just the buffets) isn't what it was, because it is no longer owned by the people who started it. It's now generic Harrah's

From what I heard, the people who built the Rio, built the M. I haven't been out since it opened. But I'm coming out in August, and will check it out. I'm hoping it has some of what the Rio originally had.

If there was one thing I wanted out of the recession, it would have been that Harrah's would have to declare bankruptsy, and be broken up. Alas that hasn't happened.

About 2-3 years ago some of my friends though it was a bright idea to go there. I refused, claimed I needed to sleep in, and avoided it. Every single one of them came back and said it was awful. And at like $18 each.

Next night we went to PH Spice Market Buffet. Everyone thought it was fantastic, even at $23 or whatever.

I love Hash House a Go-Go. I went on both trips. Several people I know here have said " OH if you go to Vegas you must go there for breakfast " maybe its because it's "farm food?" Midwesterners like that "home cooking" lol

Good both at Centennial and in Summerlin. Nearly the same cost as going to crappy Applebees or TGIFridays. Everything that was served at my table was great. I've been about 10 times and will be back.

Try the Artichoke pizza, seriously.
I would rather hunt off the land instead of eat at Applebees. Forget the sucky food...that place just doesn't feel clean. I've been to several locations!

I like BJ's too. The food is great although over priced, imo.

It was my first time dining on real Japanese Kobe as a steak. I had tried smaller portions in various preparations (crudo, tartare, tataki). I had also eaten some of the highest rated Australian Waygu (I believe it was rated an 8 on the Australian scale).

Like you said...had it come out as a tartare I probably would have had a different opinion. I followed my servers recommendation for rare.

Live and learn. I'd like to try it again when the opportunity arises.
I love your description of food...so poetic!
