I'm about to get blasted but........

the carnival buffet at the Rio is not only overpriced but the food isn't any better than the food at any of the Station casinos.Sorry but the couples I went I didn't come away impressed, matter of fact I didn't even really eat! It's a good thing somebody else paid.

Default which Vegas celebrities have you seen around town?

I see Mayor Goodman(sorry the former mayor) around town all the time.I've run into Seigfried at the airport once and I see Flavor Flav all the time there.I once got the late Tony Curtis a drink when I worked at Ruths Chris years ago.Probably the funniest didn't involve me but my mom.She was in line at Albertsons I believe, she was with my cousin( her niece)when she was only 4 and she was a typical little girl running around touching things. My mom says to hear hey honey stay here I'd hate to lose you. From behind a mans voice says "well if so we will take you home and you can live with us!"My mom turns around it's Andre Agassi and Steffi Graf!

Spoiler

Good both at Centennial and in Summerlin. Nearly the same cost as going to crappy Applebees or TGIFridays. Everything that was served at my table was great. I've been about 10 times and will be back.

Try the Artichoke pizza, seriously.

Can't believe no one's mentioned this yet, but...

Bellagio Buffet.

Quite overrated. Maybe it was good 10 years ago, but it's a pretty terrible value now. Compare to Cosmopolitan buffet (same price).

Lotus of Siam.

The restaurant has a lot of shills on many of the foodie websites but the three meals that I have had there have ranked as major disappointments.

And even if you can get your hands on the real deal, the only way to eat it is damned near raw. (I prefer Kobe raw. Why cook something that spectacular? Make a tartare or carpaccio. Finally, there is a bit of a learning curve with Kobe -- it's subtle, like a Cuban Cohiba. Not in-your-face like a 2-month dry aged Nebraska prime over at Carnevino.)
I prefer a crudo or tartare as well. And I would take a steak black and blue (when I can find it) over most preparations to boot.

It was 2008 or 2009. And it really was cooked perfectly...unctuous, very minerally and silky. I like to think I know steak. It just wasn't transcendent compared to others I had tried. It was my first time dining on real Japanese Kobe as a steak. I had tried smaller portions in various preparations (crudo, tartare, tataki). I had also eaten some of the highest rated Australian Waygu (I believe it was rated an 8 on the Australian scale).

Like you said...had it come out as a tartare I probably would have had a different opinion. I followed my servers recommendation for rare.

Live and learn. I'd like to try it again when the opportunity arises.

Coming from another foodie I will kick that to the bottom of places I would like to try. Thanks.

A lot of people on this board seem to know what's up.

+1 to the poster who thought Aureole wasn't worth the hype.

I have been told by one of my bosses that the food at Aureole was nothing special and very overpriced. He said it was a novelty to see the wine angels but wouldn't spend the money to go back.
