I work over at CityWest (former BMC Campus). There are some nice apartments called Deerwood, right across the Bayou and some other nice new ones on Westheimer, just inside the Beltway. There are also some older (seemingly well-kept) apartments inside Briargrove Park.

I agree that you should look on Dairy Ashford and Eldridge north between Westheimer and Memorial Dr. There are some very nice and safe complexes there.

This is the lamest stretch of westheimer (empty lots/crappy businesses), but its close to the west oaks stores/mall. this section of synott is also quite lame with ditches instead of city sewage system (probably the only undeveloped street in the area.) A SuperTarget is being built on eldridge and richmond but its going to be a while.

It's like that to encourage drivers to use Eldridge instead. I can't wait for Westpark to be finished.

Personally, I'd stick with 77079 and western 77024. I don't like to live anywhere questionable.

Westchase, hmmm. Lots of nice looking apartments there, and some with driveways and garages, gates, security, etc. Pretty clean part of town, in what appears to be strictly a business district, so go figure.

I know one person who used to live there, and his truck was stolen out of his driveway 2 years ago, while he was sleeping. This was the same time everyone was blaming west side crime on Katrina evacuees. However I know another guy who lives in that area now, and his apartment was broken into and robbed of relatively inexpensive electronics a couple weeks ago.

So that's 2 for 2. Not sure what that means. Maybe it's a heavenly place and I happen to know the only 2 unlucky people who were victimized?

bah that only means you're from another part of town and rather attract people to live there among the tex-mex crowd or just keep putting down every other place to make your flooding section of houston seem to be a better choice. I observed this as a common houstonian characteristic. everyone i know had experienced some form of petty crime. that along with noisy neighbors is a given. maybe your friends didnt have the internet or didnt do any research when they moved to westchase area because there are places that are just asking for trouble and there are some that are trying to set a higher standard of living. the rich, the average and the poor people work at the westchase area and there are right places to live for every one

Yeah, it's not a particularly attractive stretch. Isn't it technically Harris County? Not sure.

If you say so. I've said both positive and negative things about every area I mention in here. I've ragged on the kooks in my area as much as I've bad mouthed TMC.

BTW the Ellington area doesn't flood, nor is it that TexMex, although what you speak of is just 5-10 minutes up the strip club freeway for you to bask in its radiance.

I wouldn't call the felonies of GTA and burglary of a habitation "petty crimes" either. Maybe they didn't do any research, but the apartment complexes were/are pretty nice, with $ 4 digits/mo in rent to boot. You know, "trying to set a higher standard of living" before being a proud parent of a 30 year mortgage.

I think I've had it better missing work 1-2x a year due to flooding to our north/west, and dealing with one car stereo theft than either one of my friends who had their Westchase area misfortunes. It's just my opinion though -- I guess some people may prefer to have their home/belongings/person violated instead.
