The first neighborhood connector to the Swamp Rabbit Trail in the Greenville city limits opened today. It is called the Sliding Rock Creek Trail and connects from roughly below the Caine Halter YMCA to the Nicholtown neighborhood. It has a different character than the rest of the trail - the tall trees along the trail have been preserved, and the feeling is that of going through a beautiful forest.
It is well worth the side trip walk or bike ride.

This is a "Born Learning trail", with interactive learning signs.
Many beautiful tall trees
Trail switchbacks on the 9% grade section
Fall colors along the trail (sorry, couldn't resist)
Other end of trail arrives at Nicholtown Green at Heritage
Trail construction is about to start to extend the Swamp Rabbit Trail past Greenville Tech.
Thanks so much for posting this. I LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE LOVE the Swamp Rabbit Trail and nice to see it's been added on to. I enjoyed your pics. I'll have to get out there again soon to check it out.
If you take the trail out of Cleveland Park toward Greenville Tech, you'll pass the Caine Halter YMCA, and some apartment tennis courts, then there is a bridge to the left crossing the Reedy River that leads to the spur.

Thanks! I know exactly where that is.
