Is there a single reason pot should not be legalized?
It would essentially decriminalize a segment of our population and, as an after effect, the prison population would correspondingly plummet, as pothead arrests would plummet leading to a layoff of prison staff, and possibly Sheriff personnel thereby contributing to unemployment in our country. Sales of hostess cupcakes would skyrocket and a national munchie craze would sweep the land thereby increasing the prices of all sorts of junk food. We could also reasonably be sure that the speed limit would decrease since most pot smokers drive slower than the posted speed limit, but firmly believe they are flying down the road. Bottled water sales would also have a noticeable jump as cotton mouth would become nearly epidemic.
Well stated and well done with the use of citations. It would be great, for those of us reading the conversation, if you did the same, Mattos.
You must be stoned. Most folks that don't like marijuana, don't like the factual nature that has been proven by non biased studies time and time again.
Instead, they choose to believe government propaganda that was published during the Nixon administration. No wait, those showed that pot was practically harmless also, Nixon just refused to read those parts.
Class A to B was in 2003, the B to C was more recent, and, has lowered use.
On a point of technicality alone, Cannabis was never classified as a class A drug. It was a Clas 'B' drug until 2004, taken down to a class C, then back up to class B.
I'm not sure what the point of report tennis is. Cannabis is often smoked with tobacco, to which we can both agree that smoking it in that way will increase cancer. But:
Chan, P., Sills, R., Braun, A., Haseman, J. & Bucher, J. (1996) Toxicity and carcinogenicity of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in Fischer rats and B6C2F1 mice. Fundamental and Applied Toxicology, 30, 109–117.
Suggesting Cannabis causes cancer.
A few more reports in this quote:
"There are good reasons for suspecting that cannabis smoking may contribute to the development of lung cancer and cancers of the aerodigestive tract (the oropharynx, nasal and sinus epithelium and the larynx). The first is the strong qualitative similarity between the carcinogens found in cannabis and tobacco smoke (Institute of Medicine 1999; Tashkin et al. 1999; Van Hoozen & Cross 1997). Tobacco smoke is a demonstrated cause of respiratory cancer (International Agency On Cancer 1990). Cannabis contains many of the same carcinogens and mutagens as tobacco but differs in containing cannabinoids rather than nicotine (Tashkin et al. 1999). There are quantitative differences in the amounts of some carcinogens, with cannabis smoke typically containing higher levels of some carcinogens than tobacco smoke (Institute of Medicine 1999; Tashkin et al. 1999):
Although it would seem that the greatest concerns over Cannabis use are those of psychological illness. You could easily go to Scholar and find thousands of articles regarding psychological problems, perhaps

There is a danger of internet debates just becoming a game of article tennis. If readers wanted to read a hundred articles on Cannabis legalization they would have written their dissertations on them!

works fairly well, but no doubt we can go through more.
The op asks if there are any arguments for not legalizing Cannabis, I would suggest that the debate is over, and that there are.
In adolescents, really? No one I know is suggesting that we legalize alcohol for kids either. Personally, I think all drugs should be illegal until the age of 25, when the brain is fully developed.
As far as your online library, thats not much support for any argument. Mine came directly from the British government, you know, the folks who actually run the country.
The only reason I can think of that weed should not be legalized is that it might turn a dime bag into a $100 rip off! :/
