I agree with the "no" as well.

How, for example, does one know that the child is not pregnant by incest?
Can you imagine what the parent/s would say?

I remember reading a book years ago on sex abuse in which a 13 year old girl was forced by her parents to give birth to her rape baby....and make her give it up for adoption to them.

I am really torn over this question. The argument against parental notification for an abortion as a result of incest or rape is a compelling one. However, when I was the parent of a minor child, if my daughter couldn't get her ear's pierced without my permission I am having a hard time rationalizing that she could have an operation as invasive as an abortion without my knowledge of consent.

I've always thought that was idiotic to be honest, though in defense most of those laws are because parents were geeking out over johnny and janey coming home with various body piercings without discussing it first lol.

As a mom who dealt with a teen pregnancy a few years ago, I should have a really strong opinion here and I just don't. I would have a hard time condoning abortion, but yet I see my daughter dealing with being a mom to a 3 year old with limited finances and no real help from the dad. We chip in as a family, but a lot of young women don't have this sort of support and are all alone. These babies can easily get neglected or in the middle of a lot of stress.

Truth is, each situation is different and there isn't a blanket cure all. Abortion with or without parental knowledge is still abortion. Having a child that you can't take care of is also a difficult choice. Maybe more adoption support would be another avenue we should explore as a way of addressing this situation.

If the young woman trust her parents she will tell them about the pregnancy. If she does not trust she will not. That, along with deciding about an abortion, is her business, not theirs.

But we seem to make it the parents responsibilty in every other decion made by those same children. W can not pick and chose on where the parents are responsible for the actions of the child and then just ignore it in this IMO.It can get as simple as making the parent resonsibilbe for the child attenting school;can have it both ways really.

Default love our freedom

Let them kill those babies with as little interference as possible. We all know we have the freedom to have as much promiscuous sex as we can. It is important to indoctrinate these little guys into the promiscuous camp as early as possible. This is central to our freedom. Technology and government -but not God- has even divorced the action of sex from the natural consequences(baby). It is the stop gap of abortion that keeps these teenage girls on their backs by divorcing the consequence of sex from the action. So it is absolutely critical to freedom that we encourage teenage girls to kill these babies in the womb without any parental interference. This way we can take control from those meddlesome fathers and mothers and make sure power lies were it belongs- in the state. It was the state that grants this sexual license anyway not parents.

I'm torn also. If telling the parents isn't an option I do have to wonder why. After that, I think about what other adults in the child's life could potentially take responsibility. If there is no one, then I don't see any other way besides making the "responsibly party" the minor and the Dr.

We do have incredibly strange and mixed rules and regulations about minor, rights, and responsibility in the country. Perhaps instead of focusing on this particular issue we should be looking at the the entire under-18 v. over-18 idea.
