Religious freedom is a bad proposition as we see how liberals react to NC bill. However, the direct impacted people is 5% and indirect impact/strong opinion holder maybe 20-30% (guest). To many, this is a bill of secondary implication what will happen if we are not treating people equally.

Then comes the abortion bill, an even worse proposition. Roughly 50% are women and more are parents/friends/relatives of women. It is a bill directly impacts people's life. The whole thing is hijacked by ultra conservatives as if this is their last standing ground.

We are acting to fulfill people's impression about south.

Default Kemp to sign anti-abortion ‘heartbeat’ bill on Tuesday

Gov. Brian Kemp is set to sign the anti-abortion “heartbeat” bill into law on Tuesday, a move that will set in motion a drawn-out legal battle that the Republican and other supporters hope lands in the U.S. Supreme Court.

The Talibornagain strikes again. And the guy who signed it didn't even win a fair election.

It's official. Georgia Governor Brian Kemp signed the highly-controversial 'Heartbeat Bill' into law at a signing ceremony in the Georgia State Capitol on Tuesday that has made national news.

"Georgia governor signs heartbeat abortion ban, joining a U.S. movement" (Reuters/MSN)

"Kemp signs anti-abortion ‘heartbeat’ legislation, sets up legal fight" (Atlanta Journal-Constitution)

Default Kemp signs "Heartbeat Bill" into law - most restrictive abortion law in US

I was surprised this hasn't already been a point of discussion - I looked in the Politics and Other Controversies forum too, and nothing was there.

I don't think Nathan Deal would ever have signed this into law... Are you thinking this will cause as much as harm as NC's "Bathroom Bill"? NC is still losing business because of that...

Just talking to a coworker of mine and she is thinking about leaving Georgia after this bill. I'm kind of with her. Starting my job search today. Hopefully I'll be out of Georgia before winter rolls around.

Where would you prefer to be? Bills like this are popping up all over the country.

I grew up in Georgia and had been focusing a job search to return because it's so cheap.

This is a reminder why.

6 weeks means a woman with a typical cycle would only be 2 weeks late on her period. For many women who have irregular cycles, she may not have even missed a period yet. Georgia has below-average state resources for women who are not financially prepared to have a child or the potential life-long medical or career implications.

Just a reminder to everyone talking about a state exodus, the law doesn't go into effect until 1-1-2020 AND it is being challenged in federal court almost immediately and every other state (Iowa, Kentucky, Miss.) which has already enacted a similar law has had it blocked by various Federal courts. This one should be too.

Whether or not the SC will uphold precedence once the case works its way to that level remains to be seen.
