Whoa, Tampa’s came in much lower than 2019 estimates. On July 1, 2019 the estimate was 399k. But the 2020 census came in at 385k.
That’s shocking.
Looks like Hillsborough as a whole got the shaft, while Orange County was massively missed. 2019 estimate was 1.479m, close to hitting 1.5 million. 2020 number is 1.459.
Orange County 2019 estimate - 1.393m. Actual: 1.429.
Hillsborough is still #4 in FL, but Orange will overtake at this point. 2019 estimates had them 86K apart. Really they were 30K apart...I know Orlando got a good boost from the PR hurricanes but wow.
Nothing to be sad about though, Hillsborough still had a +230K change which is good for #2 in Florida, after Orange (Orlando), but above the much much larger Miami Dada, and Broward and Palm Beach.
Pinellas was revised down a good bit as well. 959k. The estimate was 974k. Feels like that county will never 1 million.
I'm surprised no one is talking about Oklahoma City gaining more than 100k residents. Aside from NYC's growth, this one is so far one of the most impressive.
Yeah everything seems crazy. These numbers are so different than what we've been seeing
So many of the estimates were WAY off. I don't really understand why.
