I tend to agree, but I think it's best to wait and see what the 2020 results show first.

They keep talking about the importance of the census. Most people watching this are data nerds.

They need to put some data sets so people can follow along and ask better questions. They showed us California and Wyoming then a few random maps.
Come on guys.

It seems growth overall was very slow the past decade and 2020 estimates were too high than the actual 2020 census numbers. The Sun Belt did not gain as many seats as expected.
Didn't CA show a loss in the 2020 estimates? 39.53m is higher than its 2019 estimate.

That could imply that moving in general was way down in 2020 --- fewer people than expected fleeing CA's COL. Maybe IL doesn't lose as many people as during a normal year.

Estimates for 50 states + DC were 329.4M, so looks like national increase of about 0.6% from the orig 2020 estimate, about the same increase shown for California.

The conference specifically said California gained in natural growth and international migration, but lost in domestic migration.

Illinois was confirmed to be one of the 3 states to have lost population- one other was WV. I'm not sure of the totals or what the 3rd state was yet.

Are there state-by-state results anywhere?

Not out yet. Tons of PR about their process, but little data other than the apportionment summary. Census Bureau publicity team could clearly use some help.

no and the conference is just them rambling about things we talk about on this forum everyday. We know CA, WY and the popoulation of the USA in general.

We also know three states loss population IL, WV and an unknown third.

NY didnt lose nearly enough people to lose a second state too. So we can sleep that NYS didnt shave as much people as previously thought.

Estimates were under census totals. Looks like we undercounted the last 2-3 years.

Thats all I got from this so far.

Not yet. All information is just from the bits of the conference.
