I'd love to see the records from 1980 or 1990.. Those should be the first sets that are mainly computerized vs handwritten.
However, that's another 30-40 years.. And while it's possible i'll be alive then.. Not only will I have to be alive but in my right mind, which.. Throws a wrench into the idea.

Yep! I;m looking forward to transcribing pages to help make them searchable. Last time (2010) it took about four months after they said it would take a year! I predict it will be as fast or faster.

I know I'm looking forward to it and have been for the past year. For a couple of reasons, I guess. Since I lived with my grandparents, half of 1950 and half of 1951, I was curious which household I'd been counted in. Recently saw, somewhere, what month it was done where we lived so I would have still been at my parents.
With the discovery of a dad I didn't know about, I have even more curiosity. Found two 1/2 siblings and while they seem to accept me they don't stay in touch very well and aren't forthcoming when I ask them questions. I don't think it's that they want to hide anything necessarily but they just aren't good about responding at all. So, I need the census just to find out what 'our' dad did for a living. We are friends on FB so keep up with each other that way. I wish I'd had more siblings and, maybe, some not so reticent ones. I also have a half niece, which is how I found my/our family, and we are pretty close. She is the daughter my 1/2 sister gave up for adoption. She found her birth mom at the same time I found my birth dad.
So, yes, I am really looking forward to the census.
I'm excited. My grandmother was a census taker for this census. I can't wait to see her handwriting again.
Also - Just think of all the people that her work will help. Her efforts will live on forever.
