Watched my son make his lunch one day last week. He had a bowl of cottage cheese and was pouring pickle juice into it.

Leftovers in the microwave tonight. Still busy planting outdoors.

Can't use the oven as the cats must have brought in a mouse and it took up residence in the stove. It was a real adventure last night heating up that garlic bread - smoke alarms, cat chasing mouse. Quite a lively kitchen.

Huge stockpile of kitty food carried in piece by piece and stockpiled under the oven. The mouse was set for life but that's pretty risky living.

I insist on live traps but forgetful DH put down sticky traps, a real cruelty I think. At 2:00am I hear Miss Cat coming up the stairs. Slap, slap, slap. Unstick me, Ma.

Never a dull moment. Hard to have an appetite after all that.

Our annual Potato Festival is happening this weekend, so may go to that tonight and have dinner - not sure.

Last night was spaghetti, garlic bread, and cucumber spears.

I am making the Moosewood cookbook’s Italian tomato sauce (marinara version) which includes canned tomato, but fresh onion, peppers, garlic, celery, mushrooms, yellow squash, and dried and fresh herbs.

My mom makes this sauce, and I know it is delicious!

Had to grab some Chinese food on the fly while playing keep-away from some big thunderstorms which prevented me from my original dinner plans elsewhere. Brought home some Panda Express with Beijing beef, stringbean chicken, fried rice, and a egg roll. Washed it down with a refreshing Sprite from the fridge.
