We harvested 70lbs of potatoes from our garden last year. A big chunk were German Butterballs.

My wife mashed up about 35lbs of German Butterballs with some milk and a few sticks of salted butter last night. We froze most but kept some in the fridge. My God are they gooooood.

We're having mashed potatoes with hunks of ham mixed in for dinner tonight!

Wonder if anyone else here remembers porcupine meatballs from the Fifties. You made meatballs with onions, S&P and raw rice mixed in and baked them in canned tomato soup until the rice was done.

It was a childhood favorite but I'll bet today they would taste pretty bland.

I'm curious. Would you like to share your recipe for the soup?
No, but I remember porcupine meatballs from the '60s. My mother didn't cook them in tomato soup, though. I think that she used sauce.

Fat Tuesday dinner was Cajun cabbage jambalaya, a tossed salad and French bread. Cold Hamm's to drink and for dessert, bread pudding. Mais yeah!
