Basically a pretty quiet 4th here....a few firecrackers were heard in the distance but nothing earth shattering! It looks like rain here today so I'm guessing no BBQ tonight. Hmmmmm, guess that means I'd better think up something to be prepared in the kitchen. Will check in later with whatever I figure out.

Elston..........sorry about the spelling, I just noticed it too late. Don't put Rita in there, put Ritz...LOL and it is about 1/4 cup Merlot.

It makes a lot, but the leftovers are great...and I made enough so I can bring it up to my parents today...
I would cut it in half for the two of you.

Hope everyone had a good 4th. Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

DayTripper...so glad you made it.

I just finished making a Black Forest Cake for company tomorrow

1 box Devil's Food Cake Mix
can cherry pie filling
2 tsp. almond extract
2 eggs

Mix eggs and almond extract.
Add cake mix and cherry pie filling.
Mix well.
Pour into two round cake pans...(I grease and sugar them).
Bake 37-40 minutes on 350.
Cool

Frosting ....... ( Because of humidity put the bottoms of the cake together so they don't stick.)

5 Tablespoons Butter
1 cup sugar
1/3 cup milk

Mix all the ingredients and cook over medium heat until boiling stirring constantly. Boil 1 minute.
Remove from heat and add 1 cup chocolate morsels. Stir until smooth.
Set aside for a bit occasionally stirring it until it thickens.

Pour approx. 1/3 of frosting over the bottom layer. Put second layer on top. Pour remaining frosting over the top letting it drizzle down the sides.

Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
