Personally for me there was a cut off date for wearing minis, strapless, real trendy things (like lo cut jeans showing lots of THONG!=WRONG! for over 30's, 40's etc)
I like the newer trend of the long scarves. This one I will try to fit in with my wardrobe.

I do wear the low cut jeans, but with really long tees/tops. No one needs to know. Also my tees/camis are high so as not to show too much cleavage.
I also wear a teddi type undergarment, so if something does hike up or whatever - I am covered. As it should be!!

Default Women Dressing in their 40's

The cursing at my blog was uncalled for first of all. That blog was not directed at you ladies. Someone in the previous blog's asked for help. I responded. So non of the responses are warnted as I would never hurt anyone feelings. You don't even know me. If someone asks I try to help. This is after all set up to do that. I am an image consultant, therefor I think I know a little about what I am talking about. My business is not to insult people but, to help. Mabey if you had kindley e-mailed me I would have explained my answer. Imageforu’s Weblog

It seems that when I go out to shop for clothes, there is no in between style, or is there?
Goodness, there are TONS of places to shop. Why do you think that you need to dress in a certain way that says "40"? I dress in what I like. Obviously, that is not the same as when I was 18, but frankly it isn't any different from when I was 30 either.

The showing of a thong isn't appropriate at ANY age. Period. It's a slutty look no matter how old you are.

Totally agree. I don't get this "what to wear at 40" thing at ALL.

I've definately decided that this winter i'm wearing lots of GAP for comfort and because it looks good, whether i'm at work or shopping or taking the kids swimmimg lessons, park etc... i still falter a ;little with my evening wear but have found French Connection and Therapy quite reasonable both in price and fashion, so so far so good...i still have to find something for over the Christmas period though and i really hate sequins, trying to steer from black which is difficult although i have found some gorgeous bits in grey and burgandy with a little black thrown in to balance the comfort zone...just got to keep looking after myself in terms of what i eat and excercise, get plenty of sleep and drink lots of adams ale...feeling good is half the battle i've learnt.

I still dress the same as I did when I was in my 30s. I was always covered and I have never jumped on every trend that came along, even as a teen. I don't understand this existential crisis women have suddenly at 40 about what to wear. Keep yourself properly covered, wear clothing that fits and flatters, and suits the occassion, you will be fine. Just don't be delusional. If you have ugly ass legs, floppy arms, and mottled cleavage, back fat and tummy rolls, spare the rest of us. But this is advice I extend to all women under 40 as well.
