I had dyed my hair since I started seeing grays in it about age 30. It was a dark auburn at that time (I was a strawberry blonde as a toddler and then honey brown and then auburn and then dark auburn). I had dyed it for so long I had no idea what color it was by the time I was 54! But I did know I had a lot of white and gray in it.
I've worn my hair short for about 20 years but I went REALLY short while I was letting the gray grow out - that makes it a lot easier. I do know a lot of women though who just stick it out while their long hair is growing out.
Here's my hair now - this was yesterday - LOL.
Thanks. It looks really nice. You have the features for short hair. For me…nah I couldn't go short. My face is too fat/round, lol. Ha, ha…I'm in the same boat as far as knowing my color. It's somewhere in the brown family with reddish tints when I am in the sun, lol.
Kathryn, your hair color (and style) is fantastic! It's kind of a pewter color--gorgeous. How do you do the spikes? (That may not be the exact word for them.) Do they stay up all day?

Thank you!
I flat iron the spikes and sometimes I put something like BedHead wax (or any kind of wax) on the ends. Hair spray would work too but my hair is too dry to use hair spray on it.
They stay up all day but then, I have more of a pelt than it is hair. I swear it's like a beaver coat! LOL
I was so surprised and happy about the color - thank you, by the way. One thing I noticed was that I had to change some makeup and lipstick colors as well as some colors of clothing. For instance, I don't look good in earth tones anymore and I used to wear a lot of russet, brown, olive green, that sort of thing. But I CAN wear cherry reds, navy and pinks now and those are new colors for me. FUN.
1. Double chin or the "George Lucas neck" (runs in father's side)
2. Puffy eyes and bags
3. Early hair graying, which also runs in my mother's side of the family (and I can't be bothered dyeing my hair every time)

I have seen some serious silver foxes lately. I feel that the right attitude makes the difference as you can start wearing different colors at this stage of your life and EMBRACE the change.
I recently read that the tip of the nose grows downward as you get older. I am like you in that I have more of a Sally Field nose than a Meryl Streep nose so I am ok with the nose growth.
OH christ almighty dont talk about noses.. I got nothing from my Spanish dad not a penny , but I did inherit his family nose, how kind of the gent... I hate it with a passion..always have, but no its not going downwards like the wicked witch yet , and here was me worried about my ears... at least I could shove them under a hat....the nose however will always be on view...WHO brought up noses..... bad enough getting jowls. shaky bingo wings and wrinkles now I have this horror to worry me.

Sorry. I just read about the downward nose and maybe I will check people out tomorrow to see if it's noticeable or if the downward slope is an urban myth.

hahaha I think that happens with women who lose all their teeth and dont wear dentures.. their whole face caves in and falls. causing the nose to droop....thankfully still got all the gnashers... praise to god..
At 62, I have never given that any thought. I was more focused on staying healthy. Glad I made that choice.
That means not using unhealthy cosmetics, not wearing tight clothing that restricted the natural movement of stuff, not using hair dye, etc.
Glad I made that choice and thought about and appreciated the times I was living in versus thinking about a future that may or may not have ever been.
Seriously, live in the moment.
