It's normal in Australia, although sometimes seen as a bit bogan (rather than feminine). I do it, especially if it's just a short trip and I'm not walking much. It's very very common in Asia.

I don't think it's awkward. If someone is comfortable that way, fine with me.

Ugh. Gnarly toenails. Hairy toe-knuckles (or worse--gray hairy toe-knuckles). Keep 'em under wraps, boys. I don't want to see 'em. Thanks in advance!

I thought it was awkward until my wife said it looks fine. I don't often listen to her (haha) but for that I did.

I can't bring myself to wear sneakers with shorts. Or sneakers at all in the summer. Not because of heat, but because it seems weird to do.

Yes, I know what you mean. The only time I wear shorts and sneakers is when I exercise. But really, it's because I prefer to wear flip-flops over shoes (I only wear flip-flops, not sandals) whenever humanly possible, so if it's warm enough for a T-shirt and shorts, I am definitely going to be in flip-flops as well.

I think that's a good point that often gets overlooked. Here in central California, it has lately been fairly warm in the afternoon, but quickly becomes colder once it gets dark outside. Jeans and flip-flops/sandals is arguably the most ideal "compromise" outfit for that type of weather; the flip-flops/sandals keep you cooler during the afternoon, while the jeans keep you warmer at night. Some days the weather is perfect for that combination.

I think flip-flops look lazy and sloppy on anybody.

I don't care to see men with sandals, because they are just ugly (the sandals and men's feet).

And what is up with wearing socks with sandals? Where did that idea ever start? And why do they think it's a good idea or even makes sense?

I like the Slide style..not flip flops or sandals.. A good brand like Nike or Under Armour with shorts all the time, and sometimes jeans if just hitting the store for something.

And if a gal doesn't like my feet, i could care less, not the manicure kind of guy!! Yeah, let me go get a pedicure and my toe nails done! Please..
