Yeah, too bad Germany has 30% with a college education while the US has 45%
Germany's system is geared toward training people for meaningful careers, including vocational careers, and not charging $200,000 for a meaningless piece of paper. It is critical to differentiate quality from quantity.
Germany's system is geared toward training people for meaningful careers, including vocational careers, and not charging $200,000 for a meaningless piece of paper. It is critical to differentiate quality from quantity.
And how does Bernie's plan address improving quality and the value of that piece of paper, rather than just who pays for it?
Oh, you mean that 1994 crime bill that Bernie voted for but Hillary didn't?
Rep. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) denounces the federal crime bill, arguing that Congress needs to address the very serious issues that underlie the problems of crime and addiction – poverty, hunger, unemployment, social and economic alienation; Sanders laments the attention to jails and punishment in crime prevention.
As seen in the video below, Bernie denounced an earlier version of the bill as “a punishment bill, a retribution bill, a vengeance bill.” He has always maintained that instead of putting our money into prisons, we should attack the root of crime by investing more in education and economic development.
Sanders has been one of the very, very few Congressmen at the time who focused on the root causes of crime.
Bernie admitted that “this is not a perfect bill”, but he understood that certain parts of the bill were tremendously important. In particular, Bernie was passionate about passing the Violence Against Women Act, one of the key provisions of the Crime Bill. The 1994 VAWA Crime bill was a watershed, marking the first comprehensive federal legislative package designed to end violence against women. It was also a triumph for women’s groups that lobbied hard to persuade Congress to legislate federal protections for women on the grounds that states were failing in their efforts to address this violence. Bernie said at the time, “I have a number of serious problems with the Crime Bill, but one part of it that I vigorously support is the Violence Against Women Act. We urgently need the $1.8 billion in this bill to combat the epidemic of violence against women on the streets and in the homes of America.”
Let's not forget what the effects of NAFTA, deregulation of Wall Street and welfare reform in the 90s had on minority communities. Sanders was trying hard to fight this in Congress at the time.
The Nevada poll looks good for Sanders. With that being said, it is just one poll ans comes from a Republican firm that has done little Democratic polling, so we really need to see more polls.
Et voila!
"Democratic presidential hopeful Bernie Sanders is in a dead heat with rival Hillary Clinton just days before the party's Nevada caucuses this weekend, according to a new CNN/ORC poll."
Poll shows Democratic primary race tightening in Oklahoma
Quote:
Just two weeks before Oklahoma's March 1 primary election, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton's lead is narrowing here, according to a poll of Democratic likely voters released Wednesday.
According to the poll, Clinton has just a two-point lead over Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders. Clinton is polling at 46 percent in Oklahoma, while Sanders is polling at 44 percent, with 9 percent still undecided.
I know you are a passionate Hillary supporter, but you got to admit he is putting up a real fight and doing much better than the corporate media and many people expected.
