1998 obama was promoting wealth redistribution and government intervention and today he's trying to shove it down our throats; turning America into a failed socialist copy of Greece
“We have two very different views about America. The President's view is one of a larger government. There is a tape that just came out today where the President is saying he likes redistribution. I disagree. I think a society based upon a government-centered nation where government plays a larger and larger role, redistributes money, that’s the wrong course for America. That will not build a strong America or help people out of poverty.
Let's see:
Of the states with the highest proportion of people who pay no income tax, eight are bright red states (AL, AR, GA, ID, LA, MS, SC, TX,), while one is blue (NM) and one is a swing state (FL).
Of the states with the lowest proportion of people who pay no income tax, five are blue states (CT, MA, MD, MN, WA), three are red states (AK, ND, WY) and two are swing states (NH, VA).

Regardless of how it pans out for election purposes, it is still a MAJOR issue that we need to figure out how to deal with. Neither the Ds or the Rs have a solution, so neither should have the nerve to try and run on the issue.

Great post. The commie speaks. When Obama actually is caught on tape, his real thoughts are revealed. He is a communist through and through. But what would one expect when one's mother is a communist and he associated with known communists in his political rise.

States do not receive welfare- people receive welfare.
65-85% of welfare recipients are democrats- that is Obama's constituency. If you want a handout, want welfare, and want to try to live off government handouts- vote Obama. Nice try, though. The "state" response is the canned response by liberals, but is, of course, very misleading. PEOPLE RECEIVE WELFARE, NOT STATES.
In that group of 47% who pay no "income" taxes are:
Disabled Vets
Retirees
Disabled
Working poor - who do pay FICA taxes
Those are freeloaders?
This goes to show how dumb most Democrats are because the 47% who pay no income taxes, are of TAX FILERS.. Most retirees arent required to file, and people paying FICA is meaningless.
And the working poor can thank people like Bush, who increased their tax refunds, but you wont hear that, will you?

I believe you broke the record for the most false statements in under 30 words.
-- If you are holding Obama to something he said in 1998, we reserve to hold Romney to what he said in the Spring -- never mind what he said/did a few years ago.
-- Obama is for changing tax policy. If tax policy is promoting wealth redistribution, then Reagan and Bush are guilty of promoting wealth redistribution upward.
-- "shove it down our throats:" taxes are not voluntary, if that's shoving down your throat, so be it.
-- "turning America into a failed socialist copy of Greece" Here are net debt levels as a percentage of GDP; source here. Just to forestall the objections, these reflect all levels of government, not just federal:
So the US has much less debt than Greece. Also worth noting is the pattern over time. Greece ran up debt relative to GDP at a fairly good clip even during good times, while the United States — despite the Bush administration’s best efforts — did not.
Even if you believe, despite all this evidence, that we resemble Greece, what does that say? Fiscal austerity in the face of a depressed economy hurts your long-run debt position. One thing the advocates of austerity never mention is that it isn’t working anywhere in the world. Remember how Ireland’s early and savage turn to austerity was supposed to reassure markets and bring borrowing costs down, and didn't?
