As opposed to the greedy self centered child who wants what he thinks is his 'fair share' of a pie made and paid for by someone else.
Not all pies the wealthy have were made for themselves. That's the dilemma that burns me about our society. Everyone assumes just because someone is rich that they earned every penny. The Koch brothers were born into it. They didn't have to work as hard to get where they are like someone working class would because it was more or less handed to them. Kenneth Lay attained a lot of his by cheating other people out of their earnings. The same is true about Bernie Madoff. Those guys all had to step on somebody's toes to get where they are.
I didn't trot out anything. I know the long track record the GOP has for crapping on the little guy and opposing all the progressive ideas in our society.
I think the philosophy seems to be that if you are a little guy (non millionaire, etc.), you deserve to be crapped on,because anyone with a dream and hard work can be a millionaire.
An Reagan plays polo with Jesus on unicorns on the dark side of the moon.

Yes, I think you're right. You forgot to mention that it's the civic duty of the middle class and poor to use our tax dollars to pay the bailouts to the rich and give corporate handouts to CEO's and hedgefunds.

You mean the pies 'they made', or the pies that someone else made that they took the lion's share of the profits from? Since when do the uber wealthy do manual labor?
And let's not forget how that pie was really created. EVERYTHING that uber wealthy man uses comes from the labors of the little people. Who grew and gathered their wheat? Who ground their wheat into flour? Who grew and picked their apples? Who mined their salt? Who cut and processed their sugar cane? Who transported EVERYTHING to their bakery? Who's roads were they using? Where did the fuel they baked with come from?
The real question is, have the uber wealthy paid the true costs for the material and labor it took to make their pie? Did they underpay the laborers, millers, bakers for their work? Did they pay the true cost to produce the ingredients? Did they pay the true costs, TAXES, for their use of the roads, bridges and infrastructure used by them?
If the laborers making their pies cannot afford to eat, the wealth did not pay them enough.
If the road, bridges and infrastructure is crumbling under the weight of their production line, the wealthy are not being taxed enough.
If their pies create vast brown fields and superfund wasteland their are not sharing the profits to put things back to how they were.
No, those pies the wealthy are making aren't theirs and if they are taking more of a profit than anyone else on they production line they are cheating EVERYONE.

Touche! I couldn't have said it better. You forgot to mention it's not the uber-wealthy sending their kids to go and fight their wars and then have Westboro Baptist Church come insult their surviving family members at their children's funerals. Mitt Romney was living in France during the Vietnam War. What the hell does he know what it's like to be working class? The guy is so aloof and disengaged; it isn't funny. It's so sad that it's pathetic.

would you like to give us some examples? No, conservatives do care, they just don't want a socialist country. They would like to teach their kids that hard work pays off and no one is automatically entitled to anything. You get out of life what you put in to it.

We would like to teach kids that our hard work pays off too and not pays down. Some examples? Let's see Bush tax cuts on the wealthy and the deficit going out of control. All the Wall Street bailouts. For every one penny they spend on social welfare, they spend $100 on corporate handouts. What else? Hmmm....Enron, Tyco, Bernie Madoff, ConnectSouth, and the list goes on. The Koch Brothers have no idea what it's like to be poor because they were born rich. Mitt Romney has no idea, either. The guy lived in France during the Vietnam War. I'd much rather live in a socialist country than a plutocracy which is exactly what the GOP wants.

This is what I've come to realize. Actual conservatives DO care about these things. Elected Republicans CLAIM to care about fairness, and then work hard to screw over the poor, help the wealthy people who paid for their campaign, and call it equality. Additionally, conservatives want to reduce the deficit, while elected Republicans are either not interested or don't know how to add and subtract... I think the same is true for liberals and Democrats, actually.
