It may. I just read where Title and Mortgage Companies are considered Essential Services and will remain open.

OK, thanks for the info. Of course you are correct about no buyers out and about though.

From what I understand, most people (that is, we working-class stiffs) can't get tested unless we are already showing symptoms. That means testing will not discover those who are walking around for up to two weeks as asymptomatic carriers.

Then if a person is tested after beginning to show symptoms, it takes from one to two weeks to get the results back (apparently there are testing procedures that provide results much more quickly, but that is apparently also not for working stiffs). Well, one to two weeks after showing symptoms, the sickness will have already revealed what it is by additional symptoms.

So I'm not sure what testing is going to do for us, except for those who have the money or position to get the accelerated testing procedure.

If a person is showing the symptoms that qualify for testing, the doctor could evaluate that person and then simply slate that person to come in for another checkup or arrange a phone call or some other tele-check in a week.
You are missing a big part of the testing benefit. The more confirmed cases, the more we can target which areas are affected most and invoke greater public restrictions - stay at home orders, etc.

Also, once you are a confirmed case and recover you are no longer a risk to society (at least in regards to spreading this virus). No longer a potential carrier. Identifying these people is huge. There should have been some sort of registry following mass public testing. Those that have been confirmed and are now immune can resume their daily life - return to work, school, etc. If you aren’t sure you had the virus, you are living on edge and taking perhaps unnecessary precautions in day to day life.

We also won’t know the true mortality rate, if only the very sick are tested.

This is correct.

Furthermore, if people know they have the coronavirus, they are much, much more likley to follow quarantine procedures than if they think they "just have a cold" or it's "just allergies"

Central Market employee at the Greenville Ave and Lovers Lane tested positive for Coronavirus: https://www.nbcdfw.com/news/coronavi...id-19/2336473/

The good news is that the employee is not customer facing. There's always a chance that he picked it up from a customer-facing asymptomatic employee.

Wash your hands and keep your distance at Central Market. Wear a face mask, if you have one. Use the alcohol wipes on the shopping carts and baskets.

Yes, mass testing made a huge difference in Korea for instance. They pretty much have this thing under control. Now, on the other hand, the US was dead last in testing as of several days ago.
