I believe you're referring to the FLDS and not to the LDS.

I think it's just a question of time before we see a lawsuit from a muslim, and a mormon and all their wives and some lesbian couple to challenge the status-quo. And if they do, I cannot see how the Supreme Court can deny them their right in light of last decision on gay marriage.

Er, no. This is a false equivalency, that is, of same-sex marriage to polygamy.

Well, if we consider a marriage as a union to bring up children, then polygamy is historically one way to deal with masculine promiscuity and ensure father's support of all of his children. And with all due respect, same-sex marriage is rarely about raising children. Therefore, polygamy has more rights to be called a marriage, than same-sex marriage.

Well you go argue that if that is your bag. Frankly, you have failed to consider infertile and older hetero couples. Are their relationships all about children?

When I was saying, the primary goal of marriage, I was speaking more of historical/biblical context, and not of its current implementation. Obviously, people can be married for variety of reasons nowadays, including "to get US citizenship", get some tax breaks, or prevent any other b'itch to marry that guy. But can we say any of those are reasons why institute of marriage was brought in the first place?

Or even marrying because they want to commit to one another. Do you think that is possible?

One can commit to another without being married. Marriage is a contract. It does not define or retain love.

60 years they were happy together, then... they married. old russian joke.

I think it would be a lovely debate!
You make no sense. One person can marry one person. No debate about it.

20+ years ago people were saying: "You make no sense. A man cannot marry a man, a woman cannot marry a woman. No debate about it."
