Now tied for longest streak staying below 30° at the CT coast (BDR). Today will break this record.

NWS Forecast

Look what Euro has in its long range Jan 12th. 50s and ton of Rain! Beach weather. lol

I guess it's time for some of you to shift living in your arctic home due north into Canada, you might melt if you stay.

I'm awaiting the close to 70 degree sunny day at the beginning of February like last year in Southern NJ.

Basically, I want a long, cold winter from Nov. 15th to April 15th, then a near immediate warmup to 80 like last spring, then a summer with days around 83 degrees and nights around 58. Then, just as quickly as it came, it goes back to winter.

If anyone could actually find a climate close to this I would love it!
Places like Denver and Reno are somewhat like that.....

Interesting because for the 1961 streak of 10 days all the other OKX stations (except ISP, whose records start in 1963) have it at the all time record of either 16 or 17 days (Central Park was 16 but I think JFK and EWR were 17), so there was one day in that stretch where BDR was likely the warmest in the area and probably a high of 33. The 13 day streak (I'm assuming it ends Monday) I believe will be the 2nd longest ever in NYC.

Oh wait, I take it back, your chart is <=29, not <=31, sorry.

It's officially was a blizzard at BDR, Danbury, New London/Groton and many other Tri-State locations (and a near-blizzard at all the others, including New Haven and Meriden):

. No surprise. Thanks for this!

Just spent couple hours taking some pics of our frozen tundra landscape. Will post in the photo thread shortly.

Hearing of a pattern change, starting with the thaw late next week, that could result in above normal temps through mid-Feb? Is that true...what a contrast to the recent past that would represent!

Not sure why that is such a surprise if it does go down that way. That is the nature of new England weather and quite expected. It never stays warm or cold too long and the patterns rarely stay flat. Heck it could go February warm than cold in March. If it STAYED cold the whole winter that would be a bigger surprise.

I'm gonna need a new hard drive at this pace. So many maps I been saving. lol

2pm temps this afternoon while below zero wind chills continue. 24+hrs straight now.

I'm at 9° at 4pm. Don't know how they deal with below zero actual max temps up north. Not sure I like that actually.

Yup.... break time! Question is...how long... I think we're done with these Arctic blasts for another 2 weeks at least

"Next Week" meaning this week after Monday.
