Found some pix on my phone:

April 23, Gay City State Park

April 29, Gay City

May 5, South Glastonbury (deceptively green!)

May 12, South Glastonbury (3 pix)

May 12, Case Mountain, not too far from the beaver dam/trestle bridge

May 15, my Japanese maple finally leafed out last week. Rose of Sharon is barely budded

That's in Greenwich. The border with Stamford is further down the road. Once you start to go up the following ridge you know you are in Stamford.

I believe it was Farms road right there. Looks like its on the Stamford side. But yeah, close to the border. You know your Stamford streets.

Went for a walk on one of our many Rails-to-Trails trails on my lunch break, as is my routine a few days a week. This point on the Hop River State Park Trail is just off I-84 exit 66 (Tunnel Rd) in Vernon, only 15 minutes from downtown Hartford, 8 min from my office and 5 min from home.

You can see the trail crossing the road above the tunnel:

The view from over the tunnel, facing Box Mountain:

It's funny when I was in Greenville, SC, how excited they are about their Swamp Rabbit Trail. They hype it up like crazy as one of their primary attractions. Little do they know, we quietly have many better biking trails all over our state, so many in fact, the locals completely take them for granted.

One of many places where the trail blasts straight through rock, with enough width for the old trains to pass:

Once every 10 min or so you'll see another person like that girl in the distance. But mostly, you have this beautiful place all to yourself:

Great photos. I agree we take our trails for granted here. I can think of a few that are particularly good like the Stratton Forest Park trail in Simsbury, the West Hartford Reservoir Trail, the Airline Trail in Hebron and East Hampton and the extensive Farmington Canal Trail. Jay

Awesome pics and narration! I like the 3rd one the best.

When I see pictures of places in the Weather Photo thread its pretty cool, but when pictures are posted from a home state its even better. So thanks for these.
