March 21, 2016 Snow Event

Forsythia's.

Red Maple Tree

Lilac

Japanese Maple

Have a seat

My favorite spot. Canopy of Evergreens makes it feel like your in the wilderness under there. I leave the low branches on for this reason. When it snows it's so awesome under there. It actually muffles the sound too.

It was a race against time before it all melted off the trees. (took 4hrs after sunrise with temps in mid 30s/1.6C)

Had some amazing views from the Merritt Parkway this morning.
March 21, 2016.

New Canaan & Stamford Connecticut

You can see the snow plopping off the trees and falling

Looked like a painting.

Magnolia's ready to start opening. This weekend I bet a few will.

Purple and White Flowers. Not sure what kind. Tulips aren't out yet

Daffodils. I saw a few yellow blooms but didn't grab a photo. These will all be out this weekend I bet

How can you not have a Red Barn Snow Picture today.

March 24, 2016. Milford, CT

47° and windy.

Brand new row of homes on the right. Once had more view of the beach and water. Not anymore.

I admit, I love the mountains but I love looking out over the water and being near the coast.

Although not sure I'd want to live this close. This area got devastated in Tropical Storm Irene and Hurricane Sandy.

Tide was coming in I believe and usually covers the rocks

Panorama. Can't believe that was frozen over last year and thick. Not something you see, in fact it wasn't anything I ever saw.

Homes are so close to each other but definitely has that coastal feeling. Not sure if that's because I knew I was right at the water? lol

They are STILL in the rebuilding process after Irene (2011) and Sandy (2012). Mostly in part of waiting for funds from FEMA & insurance Companies.

All new Stilts now. Many homes raised well more than they were before. Some were on the ground. Area was under feet of water with waves crashing in.

Ahhh, a little more spaced out. That's better. The view from inside overlooking the water must be awesome.

Some homes were just leveled. They should leave this spot open for the public to walk up to the retaining wall. Then again, never mind. I wouldn't want that if I lived there. lol

Now... notice how calm the first images were with the Long Island Sound... this spot was choppy!

That's because the previous spot was blocked with land and this was more prone to those strong East winds we were having this morning.

Still near the area but 5 minutes away from the water... Mostly just buds showing up you can see the red tint

I spotted this tree with white flowers. not sure what it is.

And a weeping Willow which you don't see much around the area.

I was going to say Canada but at least they have some grass. lol It does resemble a lot of beach communities though.

Only buds still on the Maples here. Magnolia Trees starting to open. Willow Trees are progressing.

From Yesterday. Willow with a cool looking sky. Blue to the North, Clouds over me and to the South.

April 3, 2016:

I found Spring while its struggling past mid 30s this afternoon. Can you tell its windy?

New Canaan golf course at 1:15pm. Even with the April sun less than 1 inch of snow took a few hours to melt at 35°F (1.6C ). Would be much slower below freezing and if more on ground obviously.

15 minutes from that spot above you didn't have to look hard for snow... They must of gotten 1-2 inches for it to last this long with sun. Same temp (Mid 30s).

April 5, 2016. Figured I head to the beach before it warms up too much.

2pm

36°F Felt like 25°F with the wind.
Dewpoint 7°F

Beach Area that way.

Stiff NNW winds. Looks like some cars in the lot enjoying the views.

Others took a nice walk on the pier.. What a beautiful clear crisp fresh dry day!

The girl on the left looked cold. lol I was in jeans and Tshirt and a sweatshirt without hoodie up. Felt great

2 guys were walking on the beach about to come onto the pier.

Water Temp around 41°F

Uh oh.. Started noticing the damage to Magnolia blooms. Oh well. No more pretty pink blooms this spring. I guess the low of 22°F was too much. They were fine with upper 20s.

A different Magnolia tree.

From a distance.. Sad looking, no more bright pink colors.

Drink anyone?
