Anyone noticed that the last signs on I-95 Southbound prior to crossing into New York, the Mario Cuomo Bridge that crosses the Hudson River is still referred to as the Tappan Zee Bridge? That is probably the only sign left still calling that bridge by its old Native American/Dutch mixed name.

In Connecticut right before crossing into New York.

The first signs on I-95 Southbound in New York.

A nocturnal view of Landmark Square in Stamford.

The wuestion that I have is if for many years this was the tallest building between Boston and NYC, this means it was the tallest building in Connecticut too or only on the coast?

As can be seen in several welcome signs and on the city’s government website, the silhoutte is a part of the city’s logo.

Another fact is that the current Mayor Caroline Simmons is the first woman as mayor of Stamford!

Landmark Square was never the tallest building between Boston and New York. Not even along the coast. It is only 295 feet tall.

The tallest building in Connecticut is City Place in Hartford at 535 feet. Second is the Travelers Tower, also in Hartford at 528 feet. And there are several others in Hartford that are taller than Landmark as well.

New Haven has a couple buildings taller than Landmark including the Connecticut Financial Center at 383 feet; 360 State Street at 338 feet and the great Knights of Columbus building at 321 feet. The link below has a complete list.

Even Rhode Island has a couple buildings taller as well.

Correct. That was Cherry blossoms. Dogwoods are white and pink as well but not as thick and the bark of the tree is different. Black Cherry is stunning in spring

Sports Book room in Mohegan Sun changed. It's all open now. Used to be a long table with dividers for privacy. Now it's more of a lounge room with a bunch of huge TVs which was annoying because they had a baseball game blaring

Almost May and heat still needed in CT

Not in Canada anymore

Sky and ocean were very blue yesterday along the Connecticut coast:

Also saw something interesting - "cactus" growing in the beach sand along a side street. I guess the beach is a mini-desert for Connecticut:

That’s interesting. I wonder why the F.D. Rich people thought it was the tallest structure between Boston and NYC. It says it in their website, but that may be an error from their part or they know something else we don’t know about this?

Check the third paragraph.

It says "In the early 70s'" guys. Most of the taller ones today didn't exist.
Even then, it would have been the 2nd tallest as the KOC building in New Haven pre-dated it by a few years.
That was probably just an oversight or miss, not a huge deal, no one probably cared anyway.

They meant between Boston and NY along the 95 corridor, so Hartford doesn't count.

Their website is just wrong. The Travelers Tower was built in 1919 so before City Place was built it was the tallest in the state and thus the tallest between Boston and New York. 777 Main Street in Hartford was built in 1967 so it too was there before Landmark. As you pointed out the Knights of Columbus Building in New Haven was built in 1969 so Landmark was No. 4 at best.

And that does not include any buildings in Rhode Island. Providence’s Industrial National Bank Building is taller (428 feet);and was built in 1928. One Financial Plaza in Providence is 410 feet and was also built in 1973. And the Textron Tower is 311 feet and was built in 1971-72. These would push it down to No. 7 between Boston and New York at best.

Theres also a couple of buildings in Massachusetts that are taller and older than Landmark. It’s not even close.
