The thunder was quite nice. I had my windows open to enjoy it. I could go for a whole day of thunderstorms, haven't had one of those in a long while.

Default May 2017 - Spring 2017

May and Spring 2017 is officially over! Lets go through the stats.

First:

BRIDGEPORT, CT (BDR)

Did May 2017 feel like a normal or above normal month to u? Bridgeport ended up 0.5° above normal. Without those 4 days it would of been the coldest May in over a decade there.

Here's the May 2017 data. Only 6 days the Avg Temp was 4+ above norm.

12th wettest May on record with 5.49"

Here's the daily data with the departures shaded..

20 days Max temp Below normal. Only 8 lows below normal.

Hartford, CT (BDL)

Normal precip
Coldest May since 2008

If you take away the 3 days and replace it with normal temps 73/50, it would of been a Top 20 coldest Mays.

Here's the May 2017 Data.

Here's the daily data. Departures shaded.

SPRING 2017: (March-April-May)

Hartford:
Precip: 12.17" (31st Wettest)
Avg Temp 48.3° (51st Coldest)
Min Temp: 7° (March 5th)
Max Temp: 96° (May 18th)(4th hottest)

Bridgeport:
Precip: 14.65" (13th Wettest)
Avg Temp 50.3° (11th Warmest)
Min Temp: 13° (March 5th)
Max Temp: 93° (May 18th)(3rd hottest)

Most shocking BDR 11th warmest Spring??? March was cold and snowy and May was mostly below normal. Stats are so deceiving! Gees. April warmest on record skewing Spring stat

Cam: Thanks for the alternative 'spring' download. How much rain did our area receive last night. My uneducated guess is close to an inch.

This reflects that it was a very cloudy and drizzle/rainy month. That usually produces smaller diurnal ranges where the lows are often above normal and the highs below.

Depending where you were anywhere from 0.10 - 0.90". Got pretty intense at 11:30 for like 20 minutes but was embedded and localized.

Here's a map showing the rain totals 7am-7am

New Canaan with 0.60".
North Stamford with 0.93"!
Ridgefield 0.64"
Darien 0.18"

You can see how the line moved and where the intense stuff was embedded. Darien was on the southern tip of the line. Missed out. Some neighborhoods missed out too. I bet you got closer to 3/4" than 1/4".

Comment from station in Shelton:

"Tornado Warning issued around 7:30 Pm. A strong Storm cell passed well to my north . Thunderstorm around midnight delivered nearly all of the 0.55" of precip ."

Here's another look. I know someone in Pound Ridge who said he was getting hammered.

Lastly... Radar loop 8pm-12am.

Cut off CT, sorry.

June 2nd in the 40s most of our state this morning.

This pattern continues another 7 days at least! No hot pattern in sight yet.

Cool, clouds, rain, sun at times, warmth at times. Perfect Summer weather IMO. Spring was a loss so let this continue
