Was wondering about that because map only showed it way up north, but my son, wife and mom who were together at a function in Yonkers, NY claimed to see sleet there and my son was on forums that had sleet reports by people in Staten Island and on parts of Long Island and they were claiming sudden cooling columns there. During the evening I had to pick up my daughter from an event in a group she's in in White Plains that involved dropping off friends of hers in Greenwich and New Rochelle and I only saw heavy rain.

Nothing on the ground here in southern CT. All eyes on this sunday eve...right now it looks like mostly a rain event....but no guarantees:

Per NWS NY office:
Quote:
precipitation
Sunday night may start as snow inland and transition to rain Monday
and will be dependent on how quickly the warmer air moves into the
area. If a warmer layer moves in aloft before the low level cold air
is scoured out there will be a chance for some freezing rain Sunday
night. With the uncertainty did not include in the forecast at this
time and leaned toward a warmer solution.
Per WFSB forecast discussion:
Quote:
Sunday should start out sunny, but clouds will overspread the state during the afternoon as the next storm takes aim at New England. Snow should arrive by evening. Highs will only be in the low and middle 30s, but winds will be fairly light throughout the day.Snow will continue Sunday night and there is a good chance it will mix with or change to rain especially over southern and eastern portions of the state. Some accumulation is likely and there could be a significant impact on the Monday morning commute.
WFSB sounds more bullish on snow chances. Then again they are prone to hype, and generally cater to the Hartford, not New Haven market (that's wtnh's job). We'll see.

Active pattern but the pattern is not favoring snowstorms for CT. Snow Yes but not a full fledge snowstorm. Other areas of U.S and Canada are... Lots of snow on the map though. Watch the parade of storms next 12 days! Chicago got 3 snow events coming.

Mix of rain and snow early Sunday evening and ending around mid Monday morning (6/8 AM) that's not too bad

Probably another slippery commute like today and Monday

Yeah, looking at coming up.. Sunday evening and night could bring another round of light snow (T-2") but then change to rain.

These storms .............. better yet ............ the Jet stream, is hanging over land which is allow storms to stay over land which is bringing us the warm enough air for rain.

Things need to get pushed East for us to get some snowstorms.

Problem is... Like late this week IT IS pushed east, but there is Arctic air coming in with dry air and a strong push so its not allowing the Jet to come back west with Moisture or storms.

Basically "Too Cold To Snow"

I rather take snow over what happen Monday. Snowed then nothing. 6AM driving looked like freezing rain turning the snow into icy slush. Roads weren't plowed not much to plow and no salt/sand om the roads. Like a giant ice rink cars had trouble keeping traction. Then as morning progressed snow all morning. Then 50 everything melted.

Ice storm in Maryland yesterday.

I don't think I'm ready for next week. I haven't see something like that pattern since February 2015.
