I thought it was consensus that a very gradual warming pattern is happening across the globe due to global warming. The definitive data is here: http://climate.nasa.gov/vital-signs/global-temperature/

Again, this is for the entire earth as a whole. It doesn't mean that we WON'T get snowy/cold winters. Nor does it suggest last winter will become the norm. However, slowly, and over time, we are getting warmer, no doubt about it.

I disagree with averages because of extremes. Overall it's been warm and hot more often then not. You can get me all the data you want but easy to go outside and get a feel.

The 10 warmest years in the 134-year record all have occurred since 2000, with the exception of 1998. The year 2015 ranks as the warmest on record. (Source: NASA/GISS). This research is broadly consistent with similar constructions prepared by the Climatic Research Unit and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration.
This is directly from NASA and the NWS.

Bridgeport at 74° now at 4pm. Only 5 other years out of 68 yrs hit 74°. So basically..... it has happened! lol. 2003 was the most recent.

Check out the ridge next week... when ever that happens it's almost guaranteed to drop something big East of it. It's also called "amplified".

Speaking of which, that 74 tied the record for the date which was set in 2003. It was the only one of the 6 metro NY "OKX" stations to do so yesterday (the record for all the others was in 2003 as well, but were in the upper 70s or 80, for example Central Park peaked at 72 yesterday but it's 2003 record was 79).

Enjoy this weekend best you can! Something tells me next weekend most of you will want to Hibernate. lol

Euro12z says we struggle past 30s next Saturday and Sunday.

Don't worry.. wont last long. Just like the torching heat, brutal cold would only be a day or so.

Actually I'd call this weekend a bit chilly with temps in mid 50s but a NW wind in the teens with gusts over 20. The nice days will be most all of next week when temps climb well into the 50's Mon-Thurs maybe low 60's on Tuesday with a light wind most of the week. Yep, then later week, the cold air rushes in. But if you have outdoor stuff you want to do in short sleeves, next week is your last chance. Long term offices don't show a high above normal through Thanksgiving pretty much.
