Ummm, damn I keep forgetting how dry we are. Forecasts for Highs around 60 and we're mid 60s already at 1pm "in some spots". Coast and Valley holding the cooler air longer.

In short sleeves. Enjoy it.

See the Clouds at bottom right part of map? That's a storm over the Atlantic. No effect for us.

Here's the upper level pattern to understand why we're warm... See the push north from the south. Little ridge over us.

That dig coming into the U.S will get here tomorrow and keep temps at bay but that's not the dig for this weekend. Another one coming for Saturday. Deeper dig with colder air aloft.

I hear the cheers (not mine) ... I hear the cries (my own)

Latest monthly Models for upcoming winter has flipped to a warm winter for U.S (Euro & NMME).... NOT what you want to see this close in time if you want cold! Damn you Europe! lol

Watch Paulie P's video. (link expires so watch now)

Starting at 1:00

"You would think that with the negative AO, the weakening of the Polar Vortex that we should see a slip of the cold with the Polar air down into North America and give us pretty decent cold shots from time to time. We haven't seen that. Where's it been? It's been on the other side of the Pole! They're getting slammed in Europe, they're getting slammed in Asia. We saw the Siberian index going up, up, up, up, up as far as snow pack goes. And we're seeing the deficit now in southern Canada. It's on the other side, everything is going over there"

Starting at 5:00:

"NMME came in today, the European came in today, really really warm for the winter season. Its got another mild winter forecasted and if this is right we're going to take some serious hits here. This is showing it, the European is showing it, but our analogs are not showing it and some of our competitors that I seen they came out with recent forecast they're not showing it either, they are showing cold. So there's going to be some big busts folks. So consider that when looking at all these forecasts cause the modeling is completely different from some of the ideas that I seen out there. The precip is not too bad. Man, I just don't know yet, I think there's going to be too many complicated factors like the MJO is going to be strong, we'll have multiple waves, we'll have some stratospheric warming events. I think you mix all that in its gonna cause some disruption in this warm pattern this year compared to last year"

No surprise. The fact it's 70 today and most of this "fall" screams warm winter. There's bugs out in November!!! Truth is CT climate has changed and its more above average then below which says I need to move. Too hot here now. Not pleasant like was years ago. Summer is June-October and sometimes Nov now.

Unacceptable

The NYC weather blog I follow posted this today, interesting (high at Central Park is 66 so far):

At 66 degrees, this is the mildest Presidential Election Day since 1940, when the high was 71. (Warmest was Election Day 1936, with a high of 75.) By contrast, Election Day 2012 started out with a low of 31, the second coldest reading for a Presidential Election Day, one degree above 1960.

Look at the 2 other big October years that had more in Hartford. 2011 & 1979. Both ended lame winters.

It's a known talk around here after 2011 that October snows = curse. Lets hope the curse breaks!

I'm banking on at least an average winter! Rotting for the mild La Nina.

Dropped to mid 30s this morning again. (normal is upper 30s).

Got the fire going right now. Chilly. Didn't pass 40s. (normal is mid 50s)

Here's what they been doing lately. Liquid deicers, See the lines?

They do it on the bridges only since we're not expecting ice or rain then freeze.
