I assume so.

Cambium?

I got some trees starting around here too. Pretty normal to see early September, only difference is the colors are mute..

Daylight and the fact that they are stressed from lack of rain. While it may have rained a few inches over the summer, most of them came in form of 30 minute downpours so trees really didn't get a chance to drink the right way. So the dryness is another factor.

I'm afraid this year might either be a year we have good color but doesn't last long (easy drops) OR dull colors and more bronze, brown, rustic colors due to the stress.

If we can get some cool nights and some rains that could change. Or maybe its too late and I don't see much rain the rest of the month.

Not suggesting a correlation but someone brought it up so I decided to "quickly" check on the Top 20s only. I might want to do a graph now.

Summer droughts and winter snows

Bridgeport, CT

Summer 1995 was 10th driest (7.41"), winter 1995-96 was the snowiest (107.1")
Summer 1970 was 7th driest (7.16"), winter 1970-71 was 11th snowiest (69.9")
Summer 1966 was 18th driest (8.58"), winter 1966-67 was 4th snowiest (82.8")

These are the only ones showing up in the Top 20s only.

If BDR's low for today stays at 76 (i.e. temp doesn't go below that before midnight), it will tie the "record high lo" for the date set just last year. Ironically both lows will also be the highest low temperature for any date in September (last year's broke it although unlike the possible "shattering" of this record in NYC today the previous record was several dates with a low of 75 that happened 5 times: Sept. 1, 1980; Sept. 2, 2014; Sept 3, 1993; Sept, 5, 1953; and Sept. 6, 1985)

Can't believe the mugginess. I am not sure the dew loints. It is a lot cooler inland then by the shore. I believe the temp remained the same 85-87, but less humidity inland. Probably be a hot day tomorrow.

Much to Cambium's dismay I'm sure, I'm CRAVING a trip to the Southern Bahamas right about now, even though the heat index is just as high here as it is down there.

Those endless pure white sand beaches with the perfect shade of blue water have my name written all over them!!

6am September 10th. This is on the extreme end again with humidity and temps.

Our lows are pretty much where our normal highs are. Notice the dews as well.

Compare the temps and dews to the south

Looks like it was crushed.

6:30 a.m and BDR is reporting 76. I think they did it based on their overnight observations.

Looks like 79 was their low around midnight.

Another record warmth record shattered...

Actually because of an 11pm thunderstorm, none of the nyc stations made history on low temperatures yesterday (for example Central Park got down to 75 before midnight). As such it wont happen again today (since they were all this temperature right after midnight too).

BDR was north of the thunderstorms, but i didnt realize in looking at the hourly temps yesterday that they actually dropped to 75 between 4 and 5 am so they did not set a record yesterday on this. However because they didnt get the near midnight tstorm they might today I have to go somewhere soon and will check this out later.
