Is that why it's so cloudy when they originally predicted a sunny day for today and yesterday? Does it mean tomorrow will now be cloudy too? I guess this is what they go thru in Buffalo and Pittsburgh in the winter (though with snow)

Yup and Yup. I'm at the point I need a sunny day.. these clouds are wearing down on me.

Snow showers and squalls making it down to NJ, southern NY and CT right now.

Haven't seen any ground reports though

Edit .. Cousin just texted me.. flurries in Mamaroneck NY

Edit Edit ... Brother says flurries in New Rochelle, NY.

Not even on radar so very very light. Assuming that area actually showing is some snow falling then.

BDL and Willimantic reported some snow. I'm sure some local spots had an actual squall somewhere for a quick coating. Temps in the mid 30s.

Special Weather Statement was issued

215 PM EST FRI JAN 1 2016

...SCATTERED SNOW SHOWERS/FLURRIES WITH EVEN THE RISK FOR A
LOCALIZED HEAVIER SNOW SQUALL IS POSSIBLE BETWEEN 4 AND 8 PM THIS
EVENING...

SCATTERED HIT AND MISS SNOW SHOWERS/FLURRIES ARE EXPECTED TO
AFFECT WESTERN MASSACHUSETTS AND NORTHERN CONNECTICUT BETWEEN 4
AND 8 PM THIS EVENING. ITS POSSIBLE THAT SOME LOWER ELEVATIONS SEE
PRECIPITATION INITIALLY IN THE FORM OF RAIN SHOWERS.

THE MAIN CONCERN IS THE POTENTIAL FOR A LOCALIZED HEAVIER SNOW
SQUALL OR TWO WITH THIS ACTIVITY. ITS UNCERTAIN WHETHER OR NOT ANY
OF THESE WILL MATERIALIZE. HOWEVER...IF ANY DEVELOP...VERY LOCALIZED
AREAS MAY SEE A QUICK COATING TO ONE HALF INCH OF SNOW ACCUMULATE
ON ROADWAYS WITH BRIEFLY POOR VISIBILITY. WHILE THIS CAN NOT BE
RULED OUT ACROSS THE ENTIRE REGION...BETTER POTENTIAL EXISTS
ACROSS THE HIGHER TERRAIN WHERE TEMPERATURES ARE COLDER.
