Sunday up in air. I don't see a big threat but then again I may not want to jinx things again so I'll be quiet like the last one. lolol

So Richmond (RIC) dropped to 0°F, its the first time in 17 yrs experiencing that (Jan2000). Before that was 1996. You're right, they don't hit 0 often but its not rare. 1985 they hit twice. 1942 five times. Handfull of twice. Many other years once

Weather is amazing when you think about timing. You had arctic air come in before the snow. You had the snow fall. Then High Pressure come right overhead there. That doesn't happen like that every year.

GFS is snow now for Sunday but little. (1-3") Wont be high ratios like the other day.

Canadian has nothing. Just bunch of light rain chances.

No more arctic air like we're having at least for next 2 weeks

For Weekend storm

Quote:
National Weather Service New York NY
1252 PM EST Mon Jan 9 2017

Things get a little more interesting for the weekend with a strong
polar high to the north being overrun by a W/SW flow aloft as pieces
of shortwave energy emerge from the southern plans and Mississippi
Valley states. Global models are pointing toward strong confluence
between the two branches of the polar jet across the Ohio Valley and
Northeast, supporting a 1045-1050 mb high north of the Great Lakes
building to the east next weekend. This scenario could pose a
significant icing event, but it much too early to resolve these
details.
Basically have a westerly flow with little pieces of energy providing moisture while we are near the boundary layer between polar jet and the warm side. Could be ice, could be snow, could be rain. If this boundary shifts south more its gonna be all snow

Euro has all snow but light. 1-3".

Thought you guys might enjoy this...

Long Fast loop. Watch the first snow wave hit the northeast then the bigger storm come from South to Northeast

Close up with metars. Just realized Scranton and Albany never reported any snow falling.

Watch the icons turn darker blue at times (that's heavy snow rates)

Looks like BDL never even had moderate snow falling.

Is that what has already happened? Don't mess with me and tell me that's about to hit us. My little dog is having a fit trying to figure out how to stand still long enough to potty without her feet going numb. We're in crisis mode here with her little southern self.

Yes, that was the past storm.

Get the little bootys for her. I got the same problem when its this cold. Watch the salt on the ground as well. That stuff burns the paws big time.
