I had New England Revolution season tickets at Gillette for several years. Soccer is a great spectator sport. No commercial breaks. You're in and out in 2 hours. With the Revs, you can buy a season ticket in a low row by the corner flag that includes close-in parking for tailgate bbq dinners for sub-$400. The skill level isn't Championship League or World Cup but it's entertaining.

A couple of great announcements for Hartford today. First the city has accepted Stamford based developer RMS for a $200 million redevelopment of the DoNo neighborhood around Dunkin Donuts Stadium, north of downtown. RMS just reopened the Goodwin Hotel in downtown Hartford and built housing for UConn's Stamford branch. Lets hope they can finish this long awaited development.

Also, yesterday Stanley-Black & Decker announced the selection of 10 start up companies for its new advanced manufacturing accelerator program in downtown Hartford. Great addition to the city that I hope will add to it in the future. Jay

Colt Armory north building to add 48 apartments. This is the final phase of the Colt project (not including the coming National Park). Construction prep is underway.

Top Ten Hartford Restaurant Patios. This is a great development for the city. It really seems like more are opening every day. I like the the outdoor cigar seating on Pratt Street in front of The Tobacco Shop.

I went to the Gold Cup when it was in Gillette. Three games on one day. Well worth the money. I'd gladly pay probably 10x what I paid for that experience again.

I saw US vs Haiti, Granada vs Honduras and Revs vs..dc? I have never..ever been in a crowd as loud as when the Haitians scored. You quickly realize that this is the words game.

A old friend of mine was there in '94 when the world cup happened. He caught up between UK and French hooligans but it was a good time.

It's nice to see other sports have attention. Boston based have won nearly everything the past 18 years. It would be nice to see boxing come back as well but it might look boring vs UFC. That MacGregor vs Mayweather fight was like a 2nd superbowl...

Hartford is ranked 7th for tech talent growth in the country. Pretty good for a city some that incorrectly say has no tech market. Jay

This article is misleading. Hartford’s tech industry is insanely low when compared nationally. While they may have had a decent growth spurt (in this case, 10%), you have to realize 10% of a very low number is still a very low number.

It’s not bad news, but we need to put things into perspective here.

So make sure you also do this for every other topic too. I know people love to crap on CT's slow growth but yet still CT has the 6th highest GDP per capita. So you may see other states growing at higher percentages but growing a larger % of a lower number still needs to be put into perspective.......

Other topics don’t matter, here. This is discussing Hartford and it’s tech growth. Let’s stay on topic.

I think you underestimate our state. You are forgetting that Hartford is a major center for finance and aerospace which are technology driven. Long before it was considered normal, Hartford insurers were embracing the work from home movement to the tune of 47% of it's employees. The precision jet engines designed and built by Pratt & Whitney, the space exploration products designed and built by what is now UTC Aerospace and the innovations of UTC Research add to that. Extending out you also have helicopters designed and built by Sikorsky and submarines built by Electric Boat. Technology is not owned by Apple, Google and Amazon. It spans a wide range of industries.
