Yup, this year went against ALL ODDS regarding that. So it will make it what.... just 4 out of 26 now or something like that? When you play against the odds and you win its called luck.

Does this mean I stop posting now? I do need a break. :-)

Yes, but it was just luck. Odds absolutely favored below normal snowfall for the rest of the year. Glad jp was right

This reminds me of 2010-2011, when it seemed to snow 8-12 inches every week or so, with no melt.
I shoveled the first two or three dumps, then ordered a snowblower. I got it just before the last one and felt like I got my money's worth.

That winter was more like 12-18 every week, with a two footer thrown in there for good measure. There was well over 3 feet on the ground at my house. It was crazy. I think we are not quite there yet for this winter, at least in the southwestern part of the state.

That was the winter where I got 64" in 4 weeks and swore that I would never see that again in my lifetime in such short time. Was insane.

By memory:

Dec 26, 2010: Blizzard from NorEaster
Jan 7, 2011: Norlun trough
Jan 12, Blizzard from Coastal Storm
Jan 21: Big Snowstorm from Coastal Storm
Jan 25: Clipper
Jan 27: Big Snowstorm from Coastal Storm

Will never forget the dates because it was like every week like you said.

Then it was done. Big thaw in February, a foot melted in a week... and I think I was mowing the lawn end of March/Early April.

GFS12z... Prolonged snowfall with significant accumulations "possible"! (12"+) Sunday to Tuesday.

I'm telling ya.. it's VERY important where that Polar front sets up. If it's over us we got a mix. Too far south than northern Mid Atlantic would see the snowfall more. Latest has it south of us just right for us to get the snows.

I'll let a couple of Pro's take the word out of my mouth...

Steve D.

"12Z GFS has sustained long duration light-moderate snow threat from Sunday to Tuesday. Significant accumulations possible."

"Latest GFS Northeast snowfall update: Possible *4 day snowfall event* starting Saturday eve; Net snowfall 15-20" "

I didn't want to exaggerate on the snowfall totals. It was enough to break my "organic shoveling" habit.

It was also the winter that convinced me it was possible to keep a rink frozen in my backyard. 2011-12 was the counterpoint to that, but we've been fortunate since then.
