In short... This cold is Long Lasting, Deep, No big storms but snowy here and there from clippers, waves, and instability. I don't think that snowstorm down south next week rides up the coast.

Geeze.....

I said from Day 1 that having the Superbowl in NY was a BAD idea and NOW they are starting to figure that out.:

I'm sorry, but they ought not to have it anywhere that the average temp is less than 50 deg or at least if in a location colder than that, have it in a dome.

I just noticed that were at the 9th snowiest January in Central Park in over 140 years of record! Many (but not all) of the higher totals are from before 1950, so it might be an even
higher rank for Bridgeport

lol. I Thought the same thing especially that far out. I was going to use the Heads/Tails scenario. LOL

But that model was mostly showing it cold not warm so I guess it was hinting at something. Just for reference, Fall 2012 was showing mostly torch pattern for us for the coming winter (2012-13) and we ended up warm.

There's so many interesting stats and Top 10s or 20s I don't know what to focus on.

Default January 21, 2014 Snowstorm

Excellent write up by Ryan!! Wow awesome stuff. He explains why some areas got less and mentions the fact that the flakes were so light in nature that they were parachuting down and where some light winds were they were actually falling in another area.

So where the radar was showing heavy snow the flakes were actually falling not underneath there. Rare mountain type powder for CT

Warm Bias NWS NY in full gear. Every other station is mentioning records. And its amazing how they avoided mentioning the Top 10 January snowfall the other day for most of their locations. Disgusting if you ask me.

That's my morning rant. Moving on.

6:25am Temps. Cold core right over the Northeast. Temps at 4000' around 20-25 Below zero C°
