Fair point on metrowest Boston, but if they really wanted to shake things up they could grab some giant mill space in Worcester or Lowell and have much better airport/public transit access. The Dulles corridor is a natural fit given the demographics and transit access, and MSP is a good cultural fit for them.

I did forget though that Bezos is from TX and that plus the WF acquisition probably throws Austin into the mix.

In its current state it doesn't really fit the cultural/demographic archetype for this kind of HQ, but it does have the raw ingredients and it sure would be transformative.

Problem is, unlike Stamford, it's rather far from NYC, and not close enough to Boston to offset that fact.

I have no idea. No one in their right mind takes the train to LGA, certainly not business travelers. Can easily do a car in 40 minutes from Stamford mid-day though. Rush hour is a crap shoot. Could be 40 or 1:40.

45 mins or less to airport Stamford is about 40 minutes from LGA and it sit on Metro North line with good service
This is massive. I doubt there are many sites anywhere in the country that would fully meet this. They initially want 500,000 square feet that is already built or approved and ready to go to construction. Not many cities have that kind of space lying around waiting for a tenant. Also, they are looking for it to be as much as 100 acres in an pedestrian-friendly environment but again not many cities have that.

I could see using the RBS building in Stamford to start. It is a little over 700,000 square feet. Then there is the site that Bridgewater was going to build a 750,000 square foot building on for the second site. From there, there are a number of existing office buildings and potential office sites in and around downtown Stamford that could work.

Hartford could possibly fit the bill too, though it does not have any large vacant office structures downtown. There is however Rentschler Field which is a couple of hundred acres just waiting for development. You could get mighty creative with that kind of land so close to downtown and not far from Bradley. We will see. Jay

Stamford to LGA at rush hour is not that bad...

Most of the traffic I hit coming from Milford is from Fairfield to Stamford. It's pretty smooth sailing past Stamford.

I fly out of LGA quite often. The longest it's taken me from Milford, even at rush hour, is 1:45.

True I drove on I-278 Grand Central Parkway during rush hour traffic wasn't that bad getting to LGA compare to I-95 between Milford and Stamford

Not at all. I'd say they would choose a city in the East Coast since they're already based on the West Coast (Seattle, WA). One of their "wants" is a place with a good and sustainable business environment. Connecticut would rank near the bottom on that IMO. The departure of GE and Aetna are noticeably known throughout the private sector and executives aren't stupid. I'd say Atlanta, Columbus, Nashville, and maybe Philadelphia to be good contenders.
